A real worry for our future when an injured and slow Tarrant is preferred to a younger, fit and more mobile Miller. I hope the MC know what they are doing
Nothing to do with future it's horses for courses Tarrant is the better option his did a decent job on those big forwards if his injured fair enough.

Massive game. We'll make up ground on 4 top 8 sides if we can win.

He is injured. He had a plate inserted in his metacarpal for a busted knuckle. Can’t be at 100%
And still finds himself in front of Miller

Mate if club pass him to play I'm good with that Miller will get monster's in the ai

Not sure if Miller can go with Hawkins strength and aerial game that's the problem for me.

So what type of player can Miller actually play on?
He’s not your Grimes/Vlastuin interceptor. He’s quick and 197cm and yet club believes he can’t mind a strong tall?
If he’s not ready now to play the Astbury/Tarrant role, probably never will be.
Not horses for courses. Maybe horses for glue factory

Very worried. Two key contested possessions winners out (Chimp and Lambo) plus a key player (Balta) who we can use down back if things get hairy with Tarrant and Gibbers on their in-form tall forwards.

Know what you're saying but isn't Hawkins same age as Tarrant? I doubt he can match him for strength or mobility though. We really needed Balta this game.

Hope Tarrant does well but to me there is a touch of George about this decision.
Very much harder to get out!

Not overly confident of beating the cats with this side , too tall and not enough pace/run imo
Yer, I'm not confident either. Our 'outs' are a lot more significant than theirs: Balta, Cotch, Lambert. They are getting several back.

The Tigers HF line speed kills.

Moju Shai Jud

Not surprised Hugo got dropped, he still needs to improve his composure and needs to contest harder and put his body in.

Needed to go a few few times last week and didn't, thus the Blues took the ball away rather than having a stoppage created.
MRJ and Jud are the future but both smallish, skinny kids atm that the big, hardened, experienced Moggs' defence will easily clamp, and smother IMHO. They will firstly shut off opportunities through defensive aerial dominance, simply intercepting before the ball gets to ground. Neither will be able to compete in the air, relying on chances flowing from Jack and Tom's efforts against their pack of tall defenders. We have produced a surfeit of quality SFs but now do not have an experienced one who can keep a spot in the side; it's back to developing kids.

I'm rather disappointed in Hugo being dropped; I thought he played pretty well giving us offensive run, attacking F50 entries but his disposal has to lift. Sometimes I think we are harsh on our youngsters, we refuse to tolerate some errors or form fluctuations. I think other clubs are more tolerant of a 'downer' game and willing to keep selecting, persevere and get the reward in the end with a player who actually succeeds in making it at AFL level.

When you look at it, how many of our young talent are really making it; instead they may get their confidence shattered too early, too soon, too often. Ross is another perfect case in point. I wish him luck. I went back and checked out the Dreamtime win last night because I missed it due to election events. Thought Ross played a decent game but lost his spot soon enough. Again playing very well in twos, but let's see how long he lasts this time.

That's his level unfortunately. Has never looked like he will make it after his ankle injury in debut year.

Maybe you are right. Happy to eat my words and be proven wrong.
That's because for some reason ever since then he's been played out of position

feels like a crossroads game to me , win this I think our premiership prospects become real ,not only for ladder position but belief .

A bad loss , is the exact opposite to that

Like last week I don't like the selected team. However, as an armchair spectator I guess I have to trust them. Tarrant still worries me...

I think we need to saviour every game Lambo has left. Not many would be playing at all with his hip. Sixteen thirty plus players. Seven for us and nine for the Cats.

I have never seen that before - great observation, thanks. I didn’t realise we had 7 players aged 30+ playing for us.

I wonder how often those sort of age profiles have occurred in the past?

Balta hasn't been carving it up when forward, but geez him out for Soldo is a big loss when you look at our team and structure.

Hurts our pressure, pace, forward line and also robs us of an excellent key defender if needed mid match.

The quicker he is back so can get back to last weeks structure the better.
