right on ToO.... Pork Barillo...The Barilaro situation needs to be investigated. Appoints himself to a half a million $ a year job? Wouldn't we all like that.
Fraud? Theft? Whatever you want to call it Australian Taxpayers deserve better.
i dont think they are trying to "head off any challenge to their 2 party oligopoly". it is in their favour to have those independents in parliament ahead of the Libs- and most of the seats they won are usually Liberal seats.Should be just Labor, Greens and one more. 76 Senators, but only 75 vote on any bill as the President doesn't vote, so they need 38 votes to pass a bill.
Pity they just pissed off the cross bench by reducing their staffing. I know the ALP Government is trying to find savings anywhere they can hoping a lot of smaller savings will add up, but this also reeks a bit of the major parties trying to head off any challenge to their 2 party oligopoly. Bad decision, should be reversed immediately.

I jsut reckon they see taking money off politicians as easy- no elector backlash, and taking it from the independents caused Labor the least harm.
I am not sure if the decision has been reversed yet, but it will be, at least partially. all the funding wont be returned, but some will.
Wanna see how much they jack initial prices up first to pay for their investment before they offer the discount. Bloody pathetic that the new investors will be upgrading n integrating all the Vic Roads tech systems asap. Considering the State Govt has dragged *smile* loads of funds out every year to fund their own general wastage dept. without spending a cent to upgrade them.Vic Roads partly privatising to a joint venture of super funds. Not sure how and why, but let's hope they finally cut that terrible TAC charge everyone pays annually.
Let's hope this is true as I've been clean for 12 years with 12 demerit points, with last one in 2010 driving 2km passed the limit in a 60km/h zone.....with no-one around......geez.

Yeah two different things.TAC is the no-fault transport accident insurance scheme (Transport Accident Commission), covers you in case of physical disability/injury in case of an accident. Nothing to do with your registration even though you pay that fee at the same time. That snippet above appears to refer to your licence renewal, not your rego either.
Transport Accident Commission (TAC) Home
The TAC is a Victorian Government-owned organisation set up to pay for treatment and benefits for people injured in transport accidents, promote road safety and improve Victoria's trauma system.www.tac.vic.gov.au
As I mentioned before, what about people who barely drive? Wouldn't it be better to tier the charge someway?Don't think you will get anywhere with that TigerForce, the TAC is a no-fault system which is effectively a fund for everyone to be covered. One of the best reforms we ever saw, brought in by the Hamer government from memory. The problem is that motor vehicles cause a lot of deaths and injuries and they are expensive to treat.

I just find avg of ~ $400 every year as way too much and I barely drive nowadays. They also calculate this with the same silly way car insurances do - the risk zone.

Merlino was no chance to be leader, not enough support in the party. He was also recognised as the slowest and least accessable senior minister. Known as Minister Tortoise for taking so long to make decisions. The timing is definitely interesting considering Merlino would be the next leader of the Vic ALP. As a Minister he's not one of the best though, the education department is not run very well and he's apparently hard to deal with.
TAC screws down every cent they can avoid paying to injured parties n all the profits siphon back to the Govt. consolidated revenue. Pretty sure it's been well over $100 mill per year for twenty years or more gets skimmed off the top. All the TAC moneys should filter back to accident victims but unfortunately it doesn't happen.Don't think you will get anywhere with that TigerForce, the TAC is a no-fault system which is effectively a fund for everyone to be covered. TM I have a lot to do with TAC. There will always be people who feel they could have got more but imo generally TAC are good payers. Like all government bureaucracies they love paperwork and forms and could make claiming a bit easier but they have been working a lot on claims processes.TAC screws down every cent they can avoid paying to injured parties n all the profits siphon back to the Govt. consolidated revenue.
