Are you suggesting he's not currently injured and he's on the sidelines so doesn't risk injury for trade/contract purposes?

Or if fit will play, but all aware he will move?
The second part. Maybe we are aware of the move, the hammy was slight and Dusty has told the club he is done for this year.

Sydney lowballing Bud, him not signing, the need for them to have a star there's so much smoke coming out of Sydney. We are suddenly heavily linked to GWS players (some in contract) that would need a trade, there's some more smoke. Buddy has looked so good this year, he can go on. The money thing would sort itself out unless they are waiting on something.

And here is the biggest one, if Dusty was staying and all in he would simply need to do is put on a club video for 30 seconds stating that he has had a really tough year, thank everyone for all the support, and state how much he is looking forward to finishing 2022 strongly and a big 2023. But we haven't had a single word, from our biggest most marketable star via a safe club website since he has come back. You can have privacy and protect your player by putting out that video. It all goes away, every conversation in the media, every question is answered, "You saw the video." Instead, we have statements like "I'm really confident he will stay" from people like Jack. Who doesn't know a thing but that's the only answer he can give. Anything else adds fuel to the fire.

Far too much stuff isn't adding up. If Dusty, the club, and his management were all on the same page, we would have put this story to bed months ago.
Too many smarts in the club for it to linger like this. Too many smart people in the club to let it get out. Too many smart people at the club who COULD stage manage four months so we protect Dusty because he has been an absolute icon, a once in a lifetime player, a one in a 120-year player who the club cares about deeply who has gone through a traumatic period of life and we want to take care of.

The entire era of success has been about vulnerability and being open. I firmly believe that Dusty has been upfront truthful and honest with those in charge and told them he needs a change and we are doing everything to make that happen with the least amount of friction and pressure on Dustin.

We'd be hypocrites to do it any other way.

When was the last time Dusty put out any sort of media? Can't recall the last time I heard him speak at all.

Has he made any media appearances this year? Perhaps he's been interviewed immediately after a game but if so i don't remember it.

He only gives interviews after winning a Normie and Premiership medal. Hopefully we hear from him late September

Just on this point, it could be explained by Ralph Carr strategically milking the media as free publicity to raise his player's profile.

A larger profile allows him to attract more money from non-AFL streams, which was ultimately how he allowed Dusty to earn more by staying at Richmond than by going to North when he drew things out in 2017. The difference in salary was offset by the income generated from his larger profile made possible because of Richmond's large fan base (which remains our long-term competitive advantage over other clubs). Simply put, Dusty makes more money from a year's worth of free publicity being in the news

On the other hand, if this isn't simply an exercise in publicity, it potentially suggests a concerning trend. In modern times, Buddy is the only comparable example. How much will Buddy earn off his NSW profile?

How much is it worth in retirement for any high-profile VIC player to build a larger profile in Sydney?

Are we talking millions of dollars of post-football income that wouldn't have been possible from a VIC profile?

If so, then just like how Richmond's large supporter base gives us a natural competitive advantage over other clubs because it generates more income due to the larger profile it allows, the same concept could apply to NSW in retirement.

VIC Dusty at 50yo earns how much?
NSW Dusty at 50yo earns how much?
How much is the gap?

Hopefully he's just milking the media again. But if it comes down to earning potential, the equation would look at how much Buddy's profile is worth to the NSW people after he retires, how much Dusty's profile is worth in Victoria after he retires, and the difference between the two.

If a reasonable gap happens to exist, then that suggests NSW may have a long-term competitive advantage in this area.

so you are suggesting that every time some flog in the media makes up a story the club (*any club) should respond ?

Pretty sure I have heard, Dimma, Balmey & Jack say emphatically he isn't leaving.

He’s got kids as well ? Are any of them boys ???
No idea, just over the speculation! I've heard he's leaving, can't qualify any of it though, and who am I to say anyway!

Having said that, find it hard to believe it's true when Jack, a good friend and team mate, emphatically says he ain't.

What would be sad is , if we as a supporter group, can't say a last goodbye to a champ at the home of football!

Just "smile"ing go out a win Saturday night boys!!!!!

As people saying to much smoke for me and why hasn't there been a statement is a bit weird. Understand what's his gone through, but I would make it clear to Carr and Dusty under no circumstances he aren't moving unless the move suits us and we a duly compensated simple as that.

Ralph Carr being deep & meaningful:
"People know your name, not your story. They’ve heard what you’ve done, but not what you’ve been through. So take their opinions of you with a grain of salt. In the end, it’s not what others think, it’s what you think about yourself that counts. Sometimes you have to do exactly what’s best for you and your life, not what’s best for everyone else. TRUTH………."

The home of Dusty
It has been long reported that Dusty is fanatical about preparing his body. Yoga and like.

Just wondering, given his father dying and then dealing with his head space issues, that he may not have been as fanatical in preparing his body this year. If so not surprising he is encountering these soft injuries

There's certainly logic in that but I don't think it is the case. Certainly his pre-season was very strong and he was super fit and he certainly kept up the work during the lay off. Maybe the lack of match conditioning hurt him but I tend to think it is just an inevitable toll of carrying AFL training loads through your body for a long time.

To have got to this point in his career without a soft tissue incident with the number of games and load of training he has carried puts him in a very elite group. It's not far off the tiny percentage of players who can play somewhere near his level. Inevitably something has to give and my experience is the most durable athletes hit the wall hard when it catches up to them, probably because of the extra load they have carried by not missing with injuries through their careers.

The real underlying part of your point is about mindset and that has been completely overblown where Dustin is concerned. The suggestions in the media he has been withdrawn or emotionally devastated are just poppycock. There's reasons for his turbulent season this year but they aren't about his mindset. At the end of the year they will undoubtably be rectified and everything will be on the right track again.

Pretty sure I have heard, Dimma, Balmey & Jack say emphatically he isn't leaving.

The problem arose because coach Dimma
initially created the media interest by doing exactly the opposite.
