Clearly the body has caught up with him, a pity seeing as the mind is so fast. Yeah, took a while to develop, but what a player, such vision to see opportunities.

Truly a humble champion.

Championed the indigenous cause which adds so much to our football club and the game.

Sad to see him go, clearly a fan favourite for very good reason, but the right time I think.

Thanks Shedda.

Although not surprising it’s the end of an era. Instrumental in our premiership era (hopefully one more in him). Dimma probably saved his career to move him on ball and he paid it back in spades. Creative, durable, hard at it and fair. Don’t think he got suspended apart from one game which was BS anyway

Great work Shedda - 5 games left.

Gee Dimma is great in those retirements as well. Embarrasses other coaches on how well he speaks.

Agree. There's never a true 'team' than those who play for their coach.

For how long did we all think he would play for a while yet, but time has really caught up with him this season.

I feel like Shane is the player most emblematic of our transformation as a club. People will talk about Cotch or Jack or Dusty, but the wider media or public knew they were all good. Shane was almost forgotten or dismissed by a lot of people, persisted, persisted and persisted, and the just demanded to be taken seriously. He would take games apart with a dainty kick, his scissor-hands or a classy finish, all wearing the smile of a Richmond man.

What he has achieved both on and off the field is nothing short of remarkable. 3 premierships, All-Australian, Yiooken Award, one of 5 Tigers ever to play 300 games. A Tiger Legend, a Tiger King.

Shane, thank you for everything, and let's keep it going for another month or two!

Loved the qoute:
"His best work was watched on replay" :)

Absolute magician with those hands, no-one better at putting players into space and making those around him better.

Going to miss Edwards ‘Scissorhands “.

Hope it gives the boys some extra incentive this finals series. Dimma the master motivator could somehow get the boys to climb Mt Edwards.

The anonymous assassin on the field.

Cut opposition teams apart time and again and the "experts" didn't notice. Saw space when none was there, saw opportunities to release his teammates when noone else did.

The ultimate team player who made everyone around him better

Thanks champ. Incredibly underrated player.

Where does Edwards rank in terms of the best ever Richmond indigenous players? There wouldn’t be too many ahead of him.

Best hands in the game
And always was in the right spots.
And will never forget, for a bloke that at times was referred to a bit soft.
The destruction he left at Adelaide oval 2 years ago still puts a smile on face.
Destroyed Bulters, still has a limp & the Bow & Arrow still hasn't recovered.
Champion bloke too.

Became a bit emotional when he got to the Dimma and teammates part. Funny comments about Duz.

Along with what DavidSSS said above, one of the best achievements from Shedda was building the indigenous family at the club as he was the 1st regular senior to play and now 1st to play 300 games.

A Richmond and AFL champion.

Champions play well when it counts, and Grand Finals are when it really counts.

Shane not only played well in our Grand Finals, he topped the clearance count for both sides in all 3 of the suckers.

Well played Shane, and thanks for the memories.

Agree with the sentiment here, reckon what was also underrated by the media was his physicality, particularly in our better/finals years. You watch all our finals and he was brutal in his attack on the man.

He was an elite player for much of his career. Let's hope he can give us a few more magic moments.
