Shedda you have been without doubt the most versatile and reliable players the RFC has ever had. Sublime skills, criminally underrated by the football media and a top bloke to boot. You are one of the pillars that our era of success was built on. All the best for the future :clap2:clap2:clap2

Best number 10 we've ever had.

Just watching those highlights, no idea how anyone could say he was soft. The number of times he managed to get a clean disposal out just before getting crunched was amazing. Kept his balance and knew it was about to hurt but still makes sure the ball is off to a team mate to our advantage.

Unique. Broke the mould with him. Perfect player for how we played.

Like Lambo, the reverence the playing ground holds Dimma in astounds me. I knew they respected him, I knew they played for him but I had no idea the amount of respect, love, and admiration the playing group has for him. Edwards held it together talking about everyone but couldn't even LOOK at Dimma cause he meant that much to him. He would've dropped his bundle. The culture is still rock solid.

I am hoping that both he and Lambert play key roles post their football at RFC... Lambert already has the clipboard and hopefully that morphs into a coaching role at Richmond. Edwards I believe has been with our talent and recruiting team over the last few draft nights. Talent/scout/list management may be his calling (at Richmond that is)

Yep.

And people wanted Dimma sacked a few weeks ago. Utter madness to not see just how close he is to our playing list. Man manager extraordinaire.

And the regeneration of players will mean that his message won't be getting stale.

Shedda. This one hurts.
While I knew you had to go, and advocated for it, still socks it's happening. From that skinny but creative kid I watched at Coburg Oval, to the sublime madness in the middle throughout "our era", you've amazed, bewildered, frustrated, excited and then brought joy.
I can't see where the next Shane Edwards will come from, you're one of a kind.
As for that farewell speech...

Quick wit and funny as.
I would love to see Shane take a stroll down media street. He has so much to offer.

PLEASE.... no more anti-Shedda sentiment on here regardless what happens for the rest of the season

The worst kept secret in AFL in 2022.

Finally announced.

The end of the great career of the great Shane Edwards.

Highlights videos will reflect his contribution and critical impact during the RFC's greatest modern era period.

Central to the chaos and a leader who showed his captaincy chops in 2019 when leading an understrength unit to some critical wins early doors in the season.

Frustrated me by foot with wayward kicking early in his career but his hands were always deadly and sublime as was his vision and ability to read the play.

Not many are as good as putting the ball to advantage teammates and the flow of play out of congestion as this man.

Sublime skill and vision and it took a good 10 years for the RFC to catch up with Shane Edwards by implementing the Chaos game.

Not many in the RFC relished this style more and no other was better suited to it than Sheds.

Did the hardest years at the start like his many vaunted champion team mates and has received just rewards in the last 5 years.

Fantastic player, mentor leader and Richmond Man.

Congratulations Shane Edwards #10

Much Loved Tiger Champ.

Sure going to miss the guy,. Been a wonderful servant to the club and its fans for so long and given us so many memories. I will miss seeing him go through gaps that weren't there, the sleight of hand and pinpoint passes that were a joy to behold.
Wherever and whatever his future holds for him and his family, I trust it is filled with success, peace and happiness

choked up. Nothing more needs to be said, loved watching him play. Blink and you'll miss half of what he does. He was Richmond defensive attacking chaos before Richmond was. I'll miss him.

I still don't know why but one play he made always stands out. Forget about going through gaps that were not there which was standard practise with him it was, I think in the 2019 GF but I could be wrong, he came out of the square like a bullet and avoiding a tackle he dived full length like a rugby player and made a pin point pass that resulted in a goal. It just showed his determination.

I don't know if anyone else noticed but when Shane thanked Dusty for passing him the ball 192 times and they cut to Dusty there was a single tear rolling down Dustin's cheek.

We're taking a lot of feeling into September. Trent, Shane, Jack, Dustin, Dylan. Damien. Together since late 2009. Shane and Jack (and Trent) even longer.

Who doubts the master coach Mr Damien Hardwick can harness and focus that collective emotion into a diamond-hard point? Who doubts this group has the will and the love to leave every last ounce of effort on the field for each other and their beloved mentor? Who among our prospective opponents isn't hoping someone else does the job before it falls to them?

What did Dimma say after 2017? After the loss at Kitty Litter Park, we tweaked a couple of things "and went whack-whack-whack-whack-whack".

It's *smile*'in whackin' time.

Heard him compared to another player when he first started, and I thought if he’s half as good then we’ve done well. He turned out to be better. What a great career, 300 games and 3 Premierships. So pleased he was a Tiger for life.
