I reckon the a Snowchains beat Brisbane. They’re not playing their best but they’re still plenty good enough to beat them.
The loser of this game this week could well make an early exit in September for mine, .possibly at the hands of the RFC if they are switched on and ready to rumble.

The number 1 thing we need to fix is our pressure. It has been consistently poor over the last few weeks.

Gold Coast (SE - QLD).
They will be trying for truck to respond to last week but I think we can bust them open.

As long as we get our game going and get the W I’ll be happy.

4 wins going into an elimination final is good form

I know its champion data and some people scoff at what they throw up but we are ranked 13th in the comp without the footy. This results in easy forward 50 entries to the opposition.

We definitely need to improve in that area.
What does that even mean?

The biggest alarm bell for me was David King saying last week, "Richmond ranked dead last for 1 v 1 wins in D50 over the last six rounds."

That used to be our strength. As @Dyer'ere pointed out, we are run and gun. We still bring pressure but we aren't the same side as the last four years. And that's fine, we've tweaked a style to suit what we have. It's got Richmond DNA but it's not our original brand.

Is that because of having Balta play more up the ground, Grimes out and Vlastuin missing games?

Is that cos we lead the league in 2v1 wins in D50?

As posted in the Geelong thread:

The team that has won the 1v4 qualifying final has lost its home prelim in 5 of the last 6 years, i.e. since they brought in the pre-finals bye.

That is the prelim we'll have to go through.
You've been wrong in 2 threads now.

Hmm, I don't think so he said it the week before the Hawthorn game, we had Grimes, Vlastuin and Balta back for most of that period.

I was shocked to hear the stat. I almost think just like we didn't care all that much about clearances for a large period of time, we have designed a game plan that now might not structure up to make sure we are getting third man up or numbers to a defensive contest. I could be completely wrong and we aren't playing to instruction the last six weeks. But I know that those in the four walls, don't give a fat rats clakka what outsiders think about certain stats.

We value what we value, to hell with everything else.

I think one of the main reasons for this is the loss of some serious gut running power across the HBF and middle of the ground.

We lost Rance, then Ellis, and then we lost Houli and Lambert. That is some serious pressure inflicting running ability gone.

I think it also underlines why some people have such an unrealistic expectation on the kids we draft. To develop the sort of running ability those guys had must surely take 3-4 good preseasons of hard work.

Sounds like a lot of nonsense to me and I suspect the club gives zero credence to it.
You are probably right. But without needing stats we do need to tighten up on our defensive work. Across the entire year teams have had the ability to get easy run of goals against us.

Whatever the cause is, our points against shows we've let too many goals in this year.

We've tightened in recent weeks though - 67, 71, 97, 52, in past four games.
