We needed a 2 year extension to get him to 100 games. Add the MRP tax and we'd need 3 seasons. We need to play the long game here and make sure his kids are all RFC Father/Son locked

Surely it wouldn't have been a massive effort to give the Foosh a two year deal instead of just one.

It’s not like we have many FS prospects in the next generation.

Good to see he is signed on, would have preferred 2 years but he is 31 and it could well have been Marlion's choice.

I reckon he is resilient enough to potentially play to 34 and Marlion is a genuinely good player and getting better, we need to keep him at Tigerland.

Maybe Marlion only wanted the one year ?
Always possible, but considering how long it took him to finally get an opportunity at AFL level and having to relocate the family across the country. One would think he'd like to try n maximise his time at the elite level. Perhaps he's content with all he's achieved n will be happy to bring his family back to W.A. at the end of next year.

or he believes he plays better under the pressure of a year to year contract
He was drafted 27/05/2019
Signed a 1 year extension 3/10/2019
Signed a 2 year extension 30/10/2020
Signed a 1 year extension 19/08/2022

Congrats Marlion on contract extension
Should’ve got 1 year with a 1 year option
When he can no longer play on the wing he’d be a very dangerous HF with his marking ability

He's 30 isn't he so he'll do his contracts one year at a time I'm guessing.

He will be at the Tigers in 2024 I'm sure.

Marlion stated unequivocally that after 2019 and the RFC supporting him and giving him his greatest opportunity in life that he will never play for another AFL club.

I believed him then and I believe him now even more so.

He had a chance to go home and he stayed.

I imagine there is a side contract to include the inevitable fines the AFL will concoct but good on Matlion signing as he is a valuable member of our group

What, so instead of a base salary plus match fees, Marlion has a base salary plus MRP fines?

One of my favourite players.

Would have loved for him to get 2 years as others have said but maybe he/club want to go year by year…

Hope he has a ripper game Saturday night along with Rioli and his mate Shai.
