Jack is so slow. Say he averages 2 goals a game. Opposition teams run off him and set up say 5 goals a game. 2 looks great but 5 going the other way is not what we want.
Given the average AFL score is around 80-85 points game saying jack creates 30-40% of opposition scores is nonsensical.

Jack gives away way too many free kicks now during games. He thinks he is being clever but its obvious what he is doing and the umps ping him every time.

Nice to have him as back-up if Lynch goes down but no longer an automatic selection and needs to take his significant pay cut on the chin. Be a good test to see if he sooks it up like Franklin?

Yep. Same with Cotchy and Jack, who took cuts whilst in contract.

Most likely quite correct - and that probably assisted the Club and Dusty in him accepting significantly less than he could have got elsewhere
In other words they all took unders - and aren’t we grateful they did.

And overall - I’d say each of those blokes would look back right now and say they’d made great decisions in terms of their contracts too.

I didn't realise they kept stats on goals directly attributed to the slowness of forwards. I'm surprised Jack is at 5, that seems on the high end. But if the pullitoutofmyarse stats say so, it must be right. And the logic is infallible.

Jack Riewoldt costs us 5 goals a game.

2 - 5 = - 3

Fire Jack Riewoldt. Q.E.D

I wonder how other key forwards go in that stat. Seeing as Jack averaged more tackles than All Australian pair Hawkins and Cameron, I wonder how many goals a game they give up?

10? 30?

You did not take into account that Tom Hawkins is #4 for Goal Assists for the Season @ 1.13 per game. Jeremy Cameron is #20 @ 0.86 per game and Jack R. is #116 @ 0.57 per game.

I honestly believe that Jack and Cotch are just as important to our three flags. Dusty wouldn't have won his Normies if it wasn't for the heroics of his teammates in home and away games and finals. Read Rance, Rioli, Lynch, Prestia and Houli for starters. Some lead you to think Dusty is solely responsible for three flags and dragged us through three seasons all by himself. This is total bulltwang.
Dusty is one of the greats of our club, but don't forget we have several elite champions of the game.

Don't mind Jack rolling around one more time. Where is his replacement- nowhere obvious. Is replacing Jack a priority - Tarantino and Hopper discussions would suggest not. Our points scored is up there with the best of the AFL this year so midfield all the way for recruiting.

Sound fair.
He has been paid handsomely before.
He knows the score.
Its $300 K not $80K

For one more year I reckon he'll suck it up , and so will Chimp ...........I would, and if he wants a 4th flag next year might bring it especially if the club has a massive trade draft period.

And a damn good set of Lesser Knowns who played their roles to perfection without fanfare or recognition.

Yes, that is also a statistic.

Which has literally nothing to do with what you first posted.

Whats that got to do with the defensive side of his game which you were criticising? Got called out so pulled a different stat to try and bag Jack?

How many goals was Lynch responsible for? From my eyes, Jacks defensive game is better than Toms. so Tom must be 6+??

I would have thought 300k for Riewoldt is a very fair offer.

Hard reality is he has made very good money for a long time and now, he needs the club more than the club needs him.

Unless he gets a breakfast radio gig he won't make anywhere near that money in the media.

Yep, I think that offer also takes into account the Fox Footy salary he receives.

How much tax would they pay on say 500,000? Can they somehow average their income over a number of years or write off investments?

Each year can be averaged ove the next 4 but that really only helps in the last couple of years if the player drops to ordinary type wages when he stops playing.

Jack plays 1 more year.... works on his media craft at Fox... then heads up coverage when 9/Stan take over...
Out with the same tired old past players. ... He'd be perfect imo!
