I want to play list manager for a bit and I’m not sure where else to do it. So I’m sticking this here.

Just a little exercise in how we are going to win 2 out of the next three premierships.

2023

GRIMES MILLER VLAUS

RIOLI BALTA BAKER

PICKETT HOPPER MCINTOSH

BOLTON LYNCH MOZ

MARTIN JACK C-LAND

NANKS TARANTO PRESTIA

ROSS SONSIE GIBCUS COTCH

Subs: GRAHAM BAUER CLARKE RYAN

Straight up – in 2023 we win it all. I mean have a look at this team. How could we not? The 22 represents our best team. The four subs represent the players that will split time with Jack, Cotch and Pickett as they are eased out of the team for 2024. Ryan gets several games to cover for Nank's weary carcass. Other subs get a run like Broad, Mansell and Soldo (if still around) – but they’re not in our long term plans. Oh yeah – and we manage to snag Hotton in the 2022 draft.

Subs: BANKS HOTTON RYAN BROWN

This team just falls short in a Prelim in 2024 – and it becomes obvious that Martin, Prestia and Grimes are well past their used-by dates. Again we have 4 subs splitting time with Grimes, Baker, Martin, Nanks and Prestia. Brown comes on strong in his third year and really challenges Baker for a permanent back role – by the end it is clear he is an upgrade in waiting. As does Ryan with Nanks in the ruck. Hotton and Banks make their presence felt. Graham – largely ignored in ‘23 finds a role spelling anyone that needs it – whether forward or back and has developed a sizable role as a tagger – again, anywhere required. Clarke develops quickly.

2025

GIBCUS MILLER VLAUS

RIOLI BALTA BROWN

ROSS HOPPER MCINTOSH

This team establishes us as the premier dynasty (I like that) of the early 21st century by just flogging everyone in an almost perfect season. So many players in their prime! And we pull off another major free agency win by snaffling Marshall from PA. McIntosh defies old age and just keeps running, waving and hammering in – but Banks is the heir apparent and plays at least half the season in his stead. Ryan steps in for Nanks and Brown for Baker on a permanent basis. Both are ready and considerable upgrades on their former colleagues. Hotton is ripper. Bauer can play anywhere – he is a great find. Graham just keeps working for a living. Bolton does a Martin and wins the Brownlow and Norm Smith in landslides.

This is as far as my list management crystal ball will allow me to see into the future. Beyond this, the evil forces working against our magnificent and pure of intent footy club are too strong.

I told you kids this year's finals series is crap
Trade radio is on with Dano SoS & lyoldy.
SoS says 'Paul Connors doesn't put players up if they get the deal done'
Damo fell off chair and lyoldy is still stuck that Tarranto & Hopper aren't good kicks..
Has he seen Oliver, McLuggage & fyfe??

I assume the club has done the exit interviews. When do we expect to hear of any delistings?

My eyes are pretty *smile* and I have to wear those multi-focal things as I'm both short ad long sighted.

But is my brain broken too seeing as I read this as...

"When do we expect to hear of any defistings?":help

Broady is a 3 x Premiership player and just had his best year of footy. He will be first on Dimma's team sheet each week (well, maybe 10th...)

Probably right. But I see him a casualty of our future success. Phased out of a principal role over the coming years starting with the next one.

I dont know how much this helps us but the GWS -Cats trading relationship is brittle. I hope this works in our favour.

Im good with 12, 19 (the CCJ pick) and 30 for 2 top 5 ready to go midfielders. We can further develop Judson Clarke, Banks and Tom Brown and hope Sonsie, MRJ, Gibcus as well as Miller and Ross stay on the up trajectory.
Those 3 picks and a good player should be sufficient.
Collier-Dawkins, Graham or Soldo maybe even McIntosh, fit into that into that category. Baker Short etc a step above.

Usually keep a few dangling until after trade week is finished. Would then delist with idea of rooking that player back onto the list

At least that is what they have done in the past

Don't know about Broady being a sub, he'd be one of the first picked in my team. Tapered off a little at the back end of the year, but we would have been dead in the water without Broady in the earlier rounds.

If we had grabbed Logue, Kane Cornes would've lost his *smile*. It just goes to show we have money in the kit bag, salary cap under control.

North Melbourne has held off Richmond’s strong interest to win a commitment from Griffin Logue, who wants to become a Kangaroo.

The Tigers have already convinced Giants midfielders Tim Taranto and Jacob Hopper to request a trade to Punt Road on respective seven-year deals.

It would have been a huge task for Richmond list boss Blair Hartley to add Logue on top of that duo, with only picks 12, 19 and 30 as major currency this year and the ability to offer a future first-round selection.

North Melbourne holds the first pick in the pre-season draft, so attempting to snare Logue that way was not an option for the Tigers, but they were in the race for a long way.

They are thrilled with the progress of young swingman Noah Balta and first-year top-10 pick Josh Gibcus, so still have significant building blocks for the future.
