ludicrous. He's got 10 votes at worst written all over him this season. Umps are hopeless.
Surely there couldn't be another explanation - Marlion, Shai, Daniel ... - surely? Like not visible enough in night or overcast games?

Amon 15 votes, D Rioli 0 votes. These types of farces happen every year, but Beggars belief.

For the punters, Karl Amon was $250-1 to be Ports leading vote winner. He polled three 3-voters where he didn't get a coaches vote.
I had Rozee or Wines in almost every multi. Several of them that was the only leg I missed.

Regardless of the “how” of the win, seems a genuinely likeable bloke from the answers and speech

Never watch the Brownlow, I have better ways to fall asleep.

Anyway Cripps won. My main qualm is that he should have been rubbed out for that hit on Ah Chee, you can say what you like about whether they suspend players too easily these days, but that sort of act is a suspension nowadays and he should not have won the appeal.

The above is a pity as Cripps is a deserving winner. I was surprised he had such a good year to be honest. So many years of carrying Carlton as a bull mid which takes its toll. Bit more support now shows how he could have been even better for a number of years if not for having to carry the team. He must have some resilience and good recovery as he has certainly taken a punishing for years. Yes he throws the ball too often, and I really hate it, but the umps don't call throws very often now so professional footballers will exploit that.

Ah well, we never poll well, Raines 0 votes in 1980 and KB in 1974 still make me wonder, but at least they got premierships :D

Good to see Prestia get a lot of votes. Shai should have got more. Pickett should have polled better and Dan Rioli 0 votes? Yeah, farcical.

Is this the first time they've ever awarded a qualified goal of the year?

It was a great goal for a ruckman.

It was a very average goal for a Midfielder or Forward.

Fantastic close count… has anyone credited Hocking yet… surely it was due to the “Stand” rule and “6,6,6”……?

Couldn't wait up til 3am for the result so just saw a snippet on the news.
Didn’t realise John Nicholls had been released. ... nice touch from the AFL to at least secure a day pass.

Hollow victory for Cripps that was won via 2 club appeals for the hit on Ah Chee

but agree with some of the above, he's a good footballer

Dan Rioli not getting a vote is just plain weird .. he was very noticeable this year ..

Have Carlton even won anything they haven’t cheated or rorted the system to get?

First year since I was about 6 that I didn't watch Brownlow.

Not sure why tbh.

Wifey told me who won just before bed.

I guess the new rules, the umpiring and what looked to be cheating and corruption of the AFL this season had something to do with it.
