John Annear pretty underrated, I personally thought he was the pick of the bunch in the Collingwood trade wars.

I've been talking to a Blues supporting work college that was too young for this period
and sent him the Blues teams for the 72 & 73 GF's , he knew plenty of the names because they are legends

similarly our 72/73 GF sides were star studded affairs and Sproule sat comfortably in that group

both clubs had assembled really top lists and their 2nds were loaded too

to be in either side was a gold star , to be a good player in those sides add 2 more gold stars LOL

my fading memories of Sproule were steady consistent but at a high level without attracting attention
Very underrated was Paul.

If I remember correctly he did not want to come to Richmond
all the hoo haa that surrounded the whole trade I think squashed any chance of him playing to his best

was sitting in Bay 13 , I did see him in the reserves do a kick from half back that didn't fall far the goal square , longest kick I've ever seen
a few people in the crowd around were onto it too
Billy Barrot was famous for his long kicks and I did see a goal from almost the centre
and we had Barrot , Clay and Stewart all kick really long balls on a consistent basis so longest ever is a serious claim
clearly he hit a sweet spot on the ball and maybe a bit of wind assistance can't recall

Ahead of Lynch? Gaspar was a very good player and unfairly maligned, but that can't be right.
Gas played 200 games for us, was dual AA and a Jack Dyer medallist in a year we made a prelim final. I think by the time Tommy’s career is over he will overtake Gas but right now there is an argument either way.

They just had Melb vs Tiges from 1997 on Fox Footy. Showed how good Gas was. He's rightfully up there.

I was a sucker for Stafford - don't know where he fits in this list. But I thought he was too smart for the players that surrounded him. I loved when he went forward - the perfect foil for Richo - but no one would ever kick it to him. Even when he was standing there all alone in front of goal - which was a lot. And as a ruck he was punishing.
