Alternatively i see Cotch and Prestia getting more bench time.
Say they did 65% each instead of 80%
Nearly 20 minutes less ground time each game.
Extend careers and allow them to play more burst /high intensity
Not sure about Meatball, but certainly Chimp, on for a stint and off, no resting on the field. His goal kicking ain't great and he's not that fast that he'll run down players.

Dusty doesnt run down players either.
Forward and back Chimpa will attack the ball like no ones business

True, but Dusty will brush off players and kick goals from any angle, Chimp doesn't have that in his bag.......struggles to kick a set shot from 35 out. Having said that some of his goals in finals have been second to none. 2017, against the Pussies, that spin and left foot out of the pack is one of my absolute favourites!!! And the C7 *smile*ers didn't even replay it.......still erks me to this day! Bristle screaming *goal of the game* and the *smile*ers didn't even replay it!

Maybe we should taper expectations a bit on Noah. He had a breakthrough year. But the pressure now goes up again with the fans expecting him to again play to that level.

History shows second year blues is a real thing. I do expect some dip in form at some stage in the year.

Give him time, Cumbo doesn't need to be a star immediately, he can develop. It is a very hard role he is expected to play, mid size forward must be close to the hardest position to hold down. Has shown enough to tell us he has the ability, seems to be willing to put in the work, hopefully has a lot of footy smarts because he will need it, but he will never have it easy and week in week out playing as a mid size forward is damned hard.

Been a lot of discussion the past 24 hours about Cotch playing forward. It may or may not work.

My question is what happens with Cumberland if Trent plays forward? Where does he fit??
Young goal kickers are hard to find & Noah was a revelation in the role last season showing an enormous amount of talent as a natural forward.
I'd hate to see that development interrupted.

There's no room for one of Rioli Jnr and Cumberland if Cotchin plays forward, unless we opt to have a specialist forward rotating off the bench. Baker, Graham and Short will be best 22 but doubt that they'd start on the ground, plus we'd have a second ruck on the bench. That means no Ross, Ralphsmith or Sonsie. Good problem to have!

I suspect Cotch will possibly play the selfless game and try and limit the most influential Half Back Flanker i.e Stewart etc.

I also agree about Cumberland. I thought it would be tough having Dusty back there full time. Add in Cotch and it will be interesting to see how they all gel.

I personally dont see Cotchin playing alot of time foward but more just in spurts similar type of role that Edwards played
75%-80% time on the ground with 20% foward and 80% mid when he is on the ground

Cotch should not take his spot. Cumberland will kick 40+ goals this year.

Agree.
Dimma ain't sacking his favourite son under any circumstances so Cotch gets priority wherever he can be slotted in, so that's bursts in the middle and forward.
Ideally Cumbers would have had a clean run at a forward spot but he just slid down the pecking order.

Nah, Chimp won't play permanently forward you wouldn't think. Not deep like Cumberland anyway.

Think Lablett, Edwards etc. Neither of those would stop Cumberland from getting a game.

On that, don't really get the talk if this player or that player missing out.

Everyone does their best team this time of year, but it is very rare to play even one game all season with everyone available.

Take now for example, we have half a dozen minimum not training. If we were playing this week that's six at least that wouldn't be available.

That would be about the average. Always opportunities if good enough.

For once in my life, and no doubt it will be the only time, I think Kane Cornes is right in his summation of Cotch playing forward.

With the smaller forward talent on our list, I just don't see it. Cotch switching midfield/HFF with Dusty maybe. But I don't see him operating in the forward 50.

And I don't see him in defence.

He is a midfielder, and while I love Cotch to bits, if he can't make the team in that role this season, I think it might be curtains on one of the great Tiger careers.

4 on the bench plus a sub. I think there is room for him. Train and playing forward in practice games and maybe early AFL can only make him more useful and flexible for the team. So that he can play forward if required.
