Beaten in Finals by the Bears 20, 22.

Go Deez win Flag

Cats win Flag

Flagpies belting Tigers and now the AFL and AFL media klove child charging into contention thanks to everything provided by the RFC,

Lose to Kanga 22

Lose to Carlton 22

Draw to Carlton 23

Lose to Suns22

Lose to Suns 23

Lose to Bongers in 23 after 8 years straight dominance in that manner.

As Tigers fans I can say we are just about out of painful experiences that we have not had to endure for a long time.

All of em have just about been ticked off.

Except a Collingfilth Flag .................................................................. FMD

Problem goes back recruiting and mistakes made and a side going thu generational change . We need a tall forward to replace JR . And some pace esp though the midfield ..etc
Cross fingers we have 2 picks in the mid season draft and we get it right .. no skinny flankers .. Might help turn things around
Could of picked up VanRoyden but chose Gibcus.
Probably could have picked up VanRoyden then Gibcus instead of Brown.

No one has mentioned, that I can see, how the Dons picked us apart by passing to a lone recipient then onto another and so on.
Don't know the stats, but it would have to be huge for uncontested possessions.
We seemed to be incapable of manning up man to man.
I'm pretty sure Chris told Brad this is the secret to beating Richmond. We find it difficult to defend against this type of play. Dimma needs to change game plan when playing against this type of footy.

I can't help thinking there was a serious case of pre season complacency. I'm starting to think they thought the addition of Taranto and Hopper would put us in serious contention.
Imo Hardwick took too long with his pre season overseas sojourn and brought back very little of substance, coming back to a seriously underdone playing group.
Personally I think another experienced coach could do wonders with the list. Another coach may try finding some more from our last couple of years drafts.
To me we are still trying to deny the longevity of the stand rule and trying to beat it with manic pressure.
it ain't going to happen imo

Yep and that cheap holiday at Apollo Bay showed it all.

Why did we have Nank as ruck in that last centre clearance,?

Samson has shown he is our best centre ruckman. We need to understand this and tell Nank there is a better ruckman?

Where's Brown pick 17?
Where's Sonie pick 26?
Where's Banks pick 27?
Where's Bauer?

It's our recruiting that has let us down again.
Soooo many misses causing massive holes in our side.
Why draft a skinny foward when we are struggling to kick a score?
Collingwood get Milocheck we get Bauer.
The thing is Zips, is we are not giving Bauer a go in the firsts as a forward which is what we drafted him for but now trying to turn him into a back without at least giving him one go as a forward. We certainly need someone there!

Still trying to understand

1) How can Ralph Smith ever be allowed to take a kick out?
2) what was McIntosh doing in the last quarter (in particular)
3) why did Riewoldt kick the ball off the ground to an Essendon player standing by himself?
4)how can Mansell not even score from about 40 metres out?

I could keep going but know we all have the same questions and no answers.
Just dumb football *again
This.

But the biggest question I still have, is how a team which has pretty much lost EVERY close game in the last 2 years, not have a game plan in the dying 5 minutes of a game?

Forget about all the talk in this thread about who played badly or why we shouldn't have been in that situation in the first place. These situations are always going to come about. In fact, 12 of them to be exact since the start of 2022. That's almost half of our games. There is NO team which should lose in that position ever. 18 points up with only minutes to go and we couldn't get it done.

1) Why didn't we try at every opportunity to try and ice the clock with minutes to go and 3 goals up?
2) Why weren't we flooding their inside 50 in the last Essendon forward entry, when everyone knew it was their last roll of the dice? Where were the leaders shouting instructions to do so? This is where having 2 captains should be an advantedge, instead we have 2 C's and zero leaders.
3) How is it possible there could be so much space in their inside 50 on that last play, and no one within 15 minutes of their most dangerous player?
4) Haven't we practised for this exact situation? Knowing that we continue to shoot ourselves in the foot week after week, we just never learn.

Which would be ok if the kick was directed to a ruckman or CHF who can take contested marks, but we don’t have one!
Lynch sometimes manages it but IMO only when he is sick of not getting his hands on it, so he starts searching further up the ground. But if Soldo isn't playing, and/or Nank isn't the target, this is just a terrible strategy.

Chip kicks and strong marking mids or CHFs playing up-the-ground have been our Kryptonite for years. Our wings are used for spread and run, not marking. (And I think K-Macs marking has improved out of sight, but it still isn't really part of our game). It is crazy that Dimma and his team haven't come up with a strategy to counter teams who use this against us. The Pies were the earliest side that managed it effectively. Melbourne too.

From our perspective, mostly, we try to "half" contests on the wings, not win them. But the players that were able to read and dominate those contests once the ball hit the ground (Sheds, Prestia, Baker, George, Butler) have lost a leg or are injured or have retired and we just don't effectively half those contests as often as we used to. The alternative is that we need to find a way to out mark our opponents in those contests. That means our backs need to do a much better job of directing that 2nd/3rd kick out of defence to the advantage of our mids/wings. And we need players up the ground that can mark over-head. That is the direction the game has taken, and we just have to adjust to it.

Where was the tiger army on Saturday? I know it was an away game, but we were seriously outnumbered. If the official crowd was 78,000, then at least 50,000 would have been Essendon.

Its tough to know what really happened or how they've been trained, but I still go back to the Jack kick inside our F50 that started that chain for them. Even Dimma mentioned in his presser that jack doesn't know why he made that kick, so what is going through their minds at that point of the game? If our most experienced and most senior player can make that sort of decision with the ball, what hope do the others have? Why did he seemingly throw a boot at it without thinking? He doesn't know, which suggests that there wasn't any thinking to it, and we need to understand why, else we will never turn around these close losses.
