Yeah wonder what will happen to all of Dimma's favourates? Will find out soon who has photos of Mini!
Dimma's departure had much to do with what he thought would be in the clubs best interests. His departure also coincided with a realisation that top 4 and therefore a realistic chance at another GF, had also disappeared. Mini's approach this week was either to support the present structure and include Jack, or tell him that his services wouldn't be required at AFL level until Cotchy's 300th.

Not surprising that he should take this course.
Maybe a late withdrawal but thats about it. And with a new coach and everyone watching we will prevail.

Cumbo Kicked 4.1 last week, 17 disposals, 5 tackles, after 3.2 v Geelong VFL the week prior. ‬Also the #1 for "Tackles Inside 50" per game for us in the Seniors this year.
His defensive pressure is fine. Like I said he aint the only one who drifts in and out of games.
So why do you think he isnt getting selected?

No VFL game this week. Another *smile* bye!!
Probably more reason to rest Jack and Cotch, and play Miller and Sonsie or Cumberland.
But far be it for me, a humble poster on a fan forum, to think I know better than the MC.

That's the million-dollar question. From what I hear they want him to do the fundamentals to the system. Now, that's fine if this directive also applies to other players.
He tackles, and he is No 1 in our team for the games he's played. Yes, he drifts in and out of games but geez no one can try and convince me that others don't also.

Have a look at Pickett he has been down, but still getting a gig. Same as Macca, half of his disposals go to the opposition. It's all very well to run X amount of kms but you need class players who can use the ball well and turn a game on its head which we all know Cumberland can. Jack was woeful last week but I get it without lynch we still need a presence.

Mansell again no one can say he is tearing it up, hes just going ok. Missed that easy goal that most U18's would've nailed.

Cumberland BOG last week with 4 goals and 5 tackles, and the week before v cats 3 goals. He's quick, good shot at goals, and is also good in the air. Just reward players who are playing well in the ressies. There are players in our team who are currently being carried.

Mini leaves Pickett in the forward line, how about you put Cumberland there who has better forward nous and Pickett back to the wing, and Ross on the bench rotating in the midfield.

the knock on cumberland is defensive effort

And you dont become defensive in a week.

He gets BOG and defensive efforts praised for a month in The 2nds

And you get promoted.

Thats good, long-term, footy development.

Ditto Sonz

I dont get the angst
I'd prefer we play talent where it belongs. But I don't see what happens at training and during the week.

Gut feel says Miller will replace Samson.

Good God....if that is the first strategic move of the new era, I'm booking September holidays for the next 37 years.

Dimma said he didn't have the 1001st way to cook the sausage. If team selection is anything to go by, Mini is still using the 900th way to cook his sausage

I would prefer those that can kick and hit a target get selected. No more runners please as no amount of running recoups turnovers.

The results speak for themselves. We have got it wrong in more than just selections.

I really like no change this week

1. It gives the side that royally ballsed up a chance at redemption under a new coach, and

2. McQualter and RFC start the new phase without panic, on an even footing.

3. Its possibly shrewd by McQualter as a controlled experiment - if he sends the same cattle to market that dimma sent last week, and he fetches a higher price, its the coach .

Theres going to be an incredible amount of change in the next 24 months,

Delaying its onset by a week is very astute IMO

Indestructible Calm

Every week posters complain about selections, when we win they go quiet, when someone like Cumberland (just as an example) plays and doesnt get a kick they go quiet, but when we lose and those kids dont play we "lost it at selection".
we heard the same thing in 2017, probably even in the finals with Townsend playing, or Caddy coming back, we heard it after the 18 prelim, we heard it through 2019, and 2020. we heard it before the cats game 2 weeks ago.

Im sure the MC arent perfect, but it appears posters on here think they are at times.

I reckon Jack, in particular needs a rest. I reckon we should use VFL byes to rest he and Cotch, or other oldies who need it. But I can see why we arent making (big) changes this week.

2017-2020 we had the players and most were young enough to play the Kamikaze, ballistic run all-day game plan.

In 2023 we still apply pressure when we feel like it seems but not like in the glory years, so what gives? Good to have runners but you need natural footballers which Cumberland is, and so is Sonsie. Pies atm have 2017 Richmond vibes. Essendon's ball use was sublime. We lost that game for two reasons too many turnovers which we kept returning it to Essendon in that last qtr and incorrect positioning of our defenders in and around the goal square. Where was the defensive structure? Only Rioli on the edge of the goal square. That ball should've been killed off by other defenders there to help.

Yeah, but my opinion is enlightening for most other posters on here. Are you saying i cant give it?

Opinions are fine, but a lot of posters dress their opinions as fact, and keep repeating them- such as the old "we lost it at selection"- whilst refusing to acknowledge that people with a lot more knowledge than them, and a lot more on the line, are the ones making these decisions.

Interesting thought. Not conclusive - coz they might’ve improved had Dimma stayed but interesting.
