i know the Richmond Journey/Brotherhood Facey are pushing for a 1 minute round of applause at the 17 minute mark of the 3rd quarter on Sunday
Trout from Woodend has asked for similar at the 17min mark of the 1st term too..

All a bit cringey IMO. The club has said they'll find a way for supporters to celebrate Dimma at a later date. That'll do me.

Yeah would have been a good way to go out.
Last two games coached against the two teams he won flags with.
Not to be.
I think I heard a rumour he was going to go after the Geesook win.
But he knew the importance of Dreamtime to our indigenous boys.
So he stayed mum until the end of the game.

Richmond Man!

It's not just about him either, these are iconic moments that deserve a place in history. If he had coached this week it would have been a full house at the MCG and win, lose or draw would have created post match scenes that would instantly sit amongst the most famous images in the history of the game.

Hardwick and his family would have treasured them even if he doesn't realise that now. It's a great shame someone wasn't able to talk him into doing it.

Don't agree, I've seen first hand several absolutely elite sports people announce their departure before a final game or series.

Without exception they have all been beautiful celebrations that they look back on with great joy, and a special moment for everyone involved.

Dimma was done, knew he was done, and gave Mini, the players and the club clear air to move on. We'll get a chance to say goodbye later in the year.

Once you are done, then you are done.

Dimma is done - at Richmond at least.

A combination of Thank you to Dimma, Cotch & Jack. Maybe?

Pity our last game is against PA at Adelaide Oval.

Second last game is against North at the MCG. ?

Still disagree, it's the natural instinct of any great leader to recoil at the thought of being the centre of attention and individual accolade.

It's a shame no-one was able to push him past that and towards what would have been an iconic moment and a wonderful full stop on a great chapter of the game's history. Unfortunately that moment will never be replicated.

Yeah, it might work in sports where play can stop-soccer basketball etc,but not sure in footy.
Something simple like a short montage on the big screen a few minutes before the game would work i reckon, with a bigger event later with him in attendance.

No-one who cared about him would have pushed him to do something that wouldn't have benefited him at all.

he picked the right time to go.

Might watch The Front Bar tonight and expect Mick to wear black armbands as he did on Marty Sheargold's Triple M morning show this week as Marty's also a Tiger supporter.

That's the thing, it would have. He just doesn't realise it.

Lucky he has all these experts on PRE who know better than him what is good for him eh?

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one Huge Offspring of Bull. Things panned out my way so I'll take that as both a moral and a very real victory :LOL:
