@ $400,000 a year, he is not worth it!

Half back flankers are dime a dozen.

We should be chasing Power, Michael, and so on.

You're right crackertiger, particularly after all the brouhaha from Sheedy and talk of pay cuts.

If Tiges players have to take pay cuts to get either Brown or Solomon (or both), then I'm opposed to us taking them.

It's all very well to say Brisbane players took a pay cut etc etc - They had proven their ability to play together and would want to stay together as they knew it would win them premierships.

In Richmond's case the players would be taking a pay cut to obtain a player that may be a total dud at the RFC (there's been quite a few high-priced duds in the past).

Recruit new players we can afford- don't dock existing payers salaries to fill the pockets of some import that's yet to prove his sash at the RFC!

I've said all along that if we can get Solomon and Brown without losing too much in the draft then OK. But it looks as though we will have to give up our first two selections as no one rates any of the hacks we are throwing on the table for trade.

Bugger it, lets just go for Brown, they don't want draft picks. Give them Bowden and see how much more they want. Guard our first and second round picks very closely.

I was born in 82 so please tell me if I get anything wrong here.

People go on about Miller bringing back the glory years with this ruthless recruiting.... Wasn't the great 1967-74 period brought about by smart recruiting, not poaching. Didn't we get a great experienced coach in Len Smith to develop a list. Look at the '66 reserve grade side - B. Richardson, Hart, Bartlett, Patterson, Clay and Bourke. How many of these came from other clubs? Obviously it is harder with these days with the draft, but it can be done.

Hafey took over, clearly always had the respect of the players, had a clear, simple game plan, was tough but fair and the rest is history.

Isn't this sort of poaching and counter-poaching the exact thing that started the rot 20 years ago?

This isn't the way to go. We need to develop a list. We need a coach who can develop a list, who can make average players into good ones and good players into great ones. Someone who is tough and will not accept second rate performances. It won't be Sheedy. It wont be any of the old guard. The longer this goes on, the more I think that it must be Wallace.

Waitin' for 05 like Ox.

the word i hear is that we wont get either but may get brown but thats ok as we will have some nice first round picks..........get ready for a surprise too in the tradings :)

We dont need Soloman or that hack from footscray.
I for one hope Miller Hammerhack has egg on his face at 2.00pm friday.
It might make him become creative so that we can get some real talent in the club, by getting the best youngsters in the land.
I suspect that dud frawley is behind this recruiting drive as a one last roll of the dice for him, before he heads of to the sunset, to the land of fields and grain!

We need all the quality we can get and that includes these two, BUT we must NOT sell our souls to do it.

I am trusting wiser heads to make informed decisions about the financial side of it.

Spot on. Nothing good will happen out of this with a coach who has three out of four years been shown up when the going gets tough. I doubt he has the respect of the players.

I must say I will appreciate the irony when Spud is 'Plough'ing his potato fields.

It is all well and good having 'stability' and giving a coach a few years if he has a long term plan, but Spud has looked for the quick fix every single year.

I agree. Solomon is an average footballer. Our back line is pretty much settled, maybe need a centre half back.

What Richmond does need is players who are hard at the ball.

We need to recruit the fitness personal from Brisbane. Look at the shape of each Brisbane player. Muscles and physical. Look at Richmond player, most are pencil neck geeks. Skinning and gutless. Why dont they spend more time in the weights room bulking up ?

I think Richmond need to learn how to recruit players so as not to *smile* off other clubs so that can get out of other clubs what they really want...unfortunately for the tiggers, they are still trying to claw everyone which doesnt get them what they want...I also think Richmond need a decent coach maybe K Sheedy, a decent full forward maybe matty lloyd, a few more decent midfielders maybe jason johnson a decent fullback maybe a dustin fletcher...or maybe you should all wake up and see the light and head to Windy Hill...as when was the last time there was any light at punt road for more than a year??? Poor old tiggers ;D :D

hey bummer boy, maybe richmond should start trying to rort the system like your bunch of cheats have for the past 10 years and then cry like little babies when you dont get your own way.

as for solomon 50/50 in my books if we got him then thats good if we didnt then thats good also means we dont have to trade anyone to your cheating club with an old senile coach who really should give the game away.

so now that solomon decided to stay i dont have a problem with not getting him.
