We have Kmac as pretty much a like for like replacement, but more importantly, we have upgrades.

His first instinct was always to slow it up and look sideways or backwards.

He was always a good rushed kick on the left though.

I heard all GC coaches at all levels have been encouraged to come and watch brando train to calibrate the desired intensity and professionalism club wide.

Well done RFC. Well done Brando. Well done Suns.

Ellis asked Gold Coast if they could wait a week as he's still celebrating the premiership win.

Once again paywalled but article in HS headlined 'The Tiger chat that left new Sun Shaken'

Apparently Brando was shocked when RFC told him he was no longer required?, I thought he was offered less years on substantially less money?, either way great career at Tige's but correct decision for all concerned, hope he does well up North.

If my memory serves me correctly, Brando put contract talks on hold at the beginning of the season.

I raised an eyebrow at this also. Had the impression his departure was by mutual agreement. HS reported at the time that he was offered $400K. It wasn't as though he was going to be delisted.

there is a difference between not being a required player and not being a required player on the on the salary you're asking for. Ellis is not worth 500k and is a very replaceable player at a club with our depth. but good luck to him getting it elsewhere. We’re all aware of his family situation.

It says he was shaken up and upset when he was told, I don't think he meant it was a shock, just it was a sad moment for him to know he was leaving.

Correct - article uses the word "shocked" but Brando's actual word was "shaken".
And that's to be expected of any player/employee coming to the end of a lucrative contract when the odds are it simply can't be renewed at the same sorts of terms.

Hope he has a great few years up there and becomes an AFL 300 gamer.

According to the Hun article Brando says he was told mid year that he was not required. It does not sound like a contract issue.

Pretty sound and reasonable on all sides.

we loved Brando, he loved us.

he was being paid overs in the context of our elite list profile and played an expendable role.

we knew what he would give for the rest of the year and rewarded him with a second premiership medal.

A perfect, textbook departure. Doesn’t get any better folks.

Not required but played ever game including finals and the grand final?

Huh
