I’ve always loved the Olympics since I was young.
I love most events but at times I can’t get use to the introduction of some sports at the Olympic level. But I guess I understand it. It’s the way of the world. Appealing to younger audiences and to modern times. It gives kids another sport that they excel at a chance to be called a Gold Medallist.

Having them on at least takes your mind off what’s happening all around us and in the world.

For those two weeks you can be invested in something other that what you may be going through.

Titmus swim was something else.

The women athletes are something else.

Not a fan of that personally, support staff should be neither seen nor heard.
agree. its great he was excited, and he probably deserves some credit as her coach, but his attention seeking took the attention off the gold medal winner.

I disagree, in the moment I doubt he was thinking about himself. He's clearly invested plenty into her and she was in tears talking about him afterwards.
I thought it was great to see that passion, plenty Aussies were jumping around in their room watching her too I'm sure.

The Tunisian coach was pretty pumped too. I was guessing the swimmer was at a US college but read he lives in Tunisia and competes in Frnace (would not have much competition at home)

The French were very very good. Put a lot of pressure on the Yanks who couldn't deal with it and they threw up bricks for the last quarter and a bit I saw. They have an excellent point guard in De Colo who's a seriously good player and Fournier shot the lights out (never did that for the Celtics  ). Plus ex-Celtics Poirier and Yabusele played very well. The French have some massive units in the front court and the Yanks struggled to handle them.
Dashed our hopes in 2000... The semi v France was so disappointing... But the French are generally a top notch team. And I reckon that every country plays their GF against the USA. The dive into the bench and flick back then the three showed they had the desperation and the talent

Looks like the Aussie girls aren't going to medal in the Triathlon, so I'm going for Jess Learmonth. She once played football for the Mighty Leeds United.

Can anyone explain the *smile* that is the Russian Olympic Committee?? So the Russians (and prior to that the Soviets) have been cheating in the Olympics and world sport for eternity and finally the IOC got some sort of sack and banned them. Yet the Russian athletes are still allowed to compete under the banner of the ROC?? The very same committee that in all likelihood formulated and encouraged the systemic cheating??

What a *smile* joke. Talk about a Claytons ban.

Hear Hear Chimpley ! Good rant. Angry. Swear filter. Lots of double question marks. Ticks all the boxes. Those Ruskies are perpetual cheats.

Interesting some of the athletes being lauded by the social media crowd for their "brave" political activism over some of their little symbolic acts when entering playing arenas. Although, I'm not sure how "brave" they really are. Haven't seen anyone come out to a medal ceremony or enter an arena donning a Taiwan flag face mask, in protest of the IOC denying Taiwan their identity (in an act of spineless complicity with the CCP's political ambitions). "We're brave, but not quite THAT brave" they might say. Can only imagine the sanctioning an athlete might receive from the IOC in a complete overreaction to appease wafer thin CCP sensitivities on the topic.
