I know I'd rather see an attempt to turn it around and win the next few games than 'play the youth', even if we are only a slight chance of the finals.

They are not mutually exclusive. Today we had plenty of experienced campaigners and we got flogged. I'd rather see us get flogged with a, let's say, more youthful team.

I take your point, but there is a difference between blooding a few kids while trying to win and the common euphamism for tanking.

And yes perish the thought the finals now a complete impossibility that we might get the high draft picks we so desperately need...BRING ON THE KIDS!!!

very poor, and it doesnt show respect for the club - WHERE WAS TERRY's SLOWING DOWN THE CLOCK THIS WEEK

he could have made it 80pts

Okay, you cheer for us to lose, I'll cheer for us to win. With the alleged strength of the draft this year it won't really matter where we finish.

Play the complete youth as some are askin' & you will receive more 100+ loses
Indeed we may but whats the point of copping them with a supposed "senior" team with players who just aren't up to it? Let's see what the furure holds and give youth a chance. Can't you see how Polo and Raines have prospered after being given a chance? At the start of the season both were looking dodgy in terms of having a career at RFC.  If we give Hughes, Limbach, McGuane, Pattison and JON a go in the last 5 games we may be saying at seasons end that we have even more young guns to into 2007 with. Playing youth isn't throwing in the towel it's fast-tracking tomorrows players.

Have already played most of these guys and they've been getting 3 and 4 possessions a match.  I can't see what possible positive there is in playing kids that arent ready.  We already have a very young team out on the field, these knee-jerk reactions to these losses is just emotional responses to what in essence is a frustration at being poor for so long.   We have shown this year that we can be competitive, and unfortunately we are going to have to wait just a little longer to reap the rewards.

I already told you what the positive was...it's giving them experience. What's the definition of them being "ready"? Did you think Polo was "ready" when he debuted? They may have only got 3-4 touches when previously played but that would have something to do with gametime I assume and besides even experienced players only get a handful of touches too. As of yesterday there is nothing to lose and plenty to gain by playing the youth.

They've already experienced some time in the firsts to see how they wold travel. Polo was ready, he was getting decent possession in the VFL and towelling up his opposition. And that has been proven since. Raines also, you could easily see he was ready for a crack at the firsts. Hughes has been travelling betwen the VFL first and seconds, and although has looked promising when in the AFL just hasnt got enough of the ball. You cant play a player weeks on end only getting 3 or 4 touches. For one it ruins their confidence. JON clearly isnt ready as has been seen already. Pattison is one who mabe should be given more game time. Sure give them a game or two for the experience, but there's no logical reason to throw them in the deep water just for the sake of it. The young guys have plenty of learning to do, lenty of getting used to the rigours of training regimes, and plenty to learn in the VFL before playing regularly in the AFL.

Im not disagreeing with giving players time in the AFL but I really like the way Wallace has approached it, with a plan and a reason. We already have the most 1st and 2nd year players in the team, there is no need to go overboard with this youth policy. Wallace has already delivered what many have been asking for and that is more young players given a go, but there still has to be rhyme and reason in the approach.

Good to see Wallace continuing the youth policy in promoting JON, Howat and Pattison.

Totally agree "goodone" must remember too that these young "kids" only have the body's of young kids, they need time to develop mentally and physically, thats where TW is coming from!!

Adelaide in Adelaide  :nailbiting :nailbiting another 100 point flogging ????????

At the risk of sounding negative about the only teaching going on at the moment is that they are becoming experienced at being thrashed. All this talk about 100 pointers etc in a season, well fear not as they will be thrashed again before the seasons out after another second half of the year debacle. The ferals are once more running out of patience as the tumble weeds bowl through Punt Road in September, it will be years before they get to play finals let alone win flags.

Don't get the picture Laff. Why are they booking the caravan for" The tailights are pretty small, is that it?

I'm loving the "At the risk of sounding negative......" starts to the recent posts. ;D
