100 years of Tiger Treasures dinner

what kind of morons expected the players to be there on the night before a game?? it was stated all along that no plaaers would be in attndance...

I'm not sure anyone expected the players to be there the night before a game but I can understand people wondering if it would have been a good idea to hold the function when the players could attend, maybe after the game even. Not that it makes any difference to me but in a way I would have loved the players to be part of it and to learn more about the past culture and heritage of the club they play for.

I remember some of the players saying after Jack Dyer's funeral that they learnt so much about our history that day and I thought it was sad they didn't experience it more when Jack was alive.

Awesome night. By far the best RFC function I have ever been to. I thought having the current players there would have taken some gloss off the real reason for the evening. We were there to celebrate 100 years of Treasures - not the current team. Plus they wouldn't have fitted in anyway ;D

Congratulations to all involved :clap

A really really really great night! My first night out with RFC off-field. Well worth the money.
Had photos with Disco and the 1980 Premiership Cup... toally awesome! Had photos with tommy hafey, KB, Bruce Monteath, Barry Richardson, Francis Bourke, Michael Mitchell and even Mick Molly.

Will definatley be going to the best and fairest after that to check it out too!

Well organised, great souveneirs, good food, plenty of grog, good service, plenty of legends, nice people to chat about rfc all over the room and great renditions of the rfc theme song, great entertainmnet with James Reyne and Daryl Braithwaite etc,

Everybody was more than happy to chat and have photos especially Tmmy Hfey, KB, Bruce Monteath, Barry Richardson, Francis Bourke, Michael Mitchell and even Mick Molly!

Royce wasnt overly big on the signings or photos, came across a bit shy about it all or didnt seem to really cope well with so many people asking him for attention, and thats fine too, just respect that and move onto the next legend. At one stage he threw his hands in the air with 12 people around him asking for a signature and he stormed out, i think it was all a bit much for him. he does live in Tasmania and stay away from media and attention and I just think it was all a bit much for him, and so I left him with the others and just try and repect the fact that everyone is different.

Only other person in the room that was less than happy for signatures or photos that i saw and a few other people commented to me was Benny Gale. Seemed too interested in chatting with other important people..................

Interestingly enough, a couple of people who were NOT at the night included Kevin Sheedy and Caroline Wilson????

A great night and I wont forget it for a very long time!

Maybe got Benny at a bad time, seemed ok to me, But yes Royce didnt seem to interesed.

Caro might not have been welcome ;)

Funny all the coments on Royce Hart...there was two things that annoyed me about the night one was the amount of people who crowded all the legends for autographs.....poor bastards didnt get a chance to talk with there old team mates...poor old Tommy was stuck sitting at his table for ages with a massive que of peolple........the other thing what the **** was Mark Robinson doing there...

I was surprized to hear Richo last night mention that the players were not allowed to go to the friday night dinner because they had to play on sat. He said that he would of loved to have been there with all the old greats.

I reckon the rfc should of let the players go and drink water only and leave early enough so it would not effect their preperation for the game. Who knows that could of been the inspiration to get the guys more fired up for the game.

Journo's are invited to ensure when favours are required from them they remember they owe us one. Also given the rivarly between journo's and papers inviting Caro's competitors and not her would have sent her a very clear message. Well done I say she does not deserve any special treatment from our club.

Of course if she was a real supporter like she pretends to be she would have bought a ticket from the thousands of $ she rakes in for canning us regularly.

Im surprised she wasnt there ....Her father one a major award but I wouldnt be shocked to here she was there...

What a superb night. Very well organised, great entertainment, a credit to the club. Thought Mitch, KB, Roachy and Tommy spoke very well. And to be in such close proximity to all those cups, awe inspiring. I started supporting the club because of the success in the 80/82 GFs so illuminating to hear tales of the earlier golden eras of the club. Sat next to a young girl who works in marketing for the Cats and she had a page full of notes. Good to see we have taught Gellong at least something in 2008....

Interesting to hear Richo sounded so disappointed not to be there, I initially agreed it was good just to have past players because the night was about the history of the club. But to present so of the club's current leaders would have worked
