Watching us against the Eagles & Bombers something caught my eye. It is the first time since the glory days that we have had a highly skilled and accurate forward line rotation.

With Brown, Morton, Hughes, Reiwoldt, Deledio we finally have forwards that make the most of their opportunities by actually kicking goals. For years we have not finished well allowing our more skillful opposition and their subsequent superior conversion kill us despite us often having the weight of possession.

Also just quietly Wallace has us as a 100pt per game team that he espoused in late 2004.

Not since 1996 has a Richmond team averaged over 100pts a game for a season.

I'm not saying this is a winning formula, but Wallace is finally starting to do what he said he would do.

At the game I was thinking that. This year, when we have scored 100 points, we have won, with 2 exceptions (draw against the dogs and 3 point loss to the saints). 9 games 100+ points this season for 7 wins, 1 loss and 1 draw.

It was 65 I50s to 45 IIRC, mav, so maybe we didn't do as well as usual up forward on Saturday. But we are better at sending it in and I agree our rotations have been pretty good, particularly when we have Richo bobbing up.

And we are scoring more regularly. A lot of this is generated from our loose halfbacks. That's why I'm okay with Jordy or Newman or even Kingy getting scalded from time to time defensively provided they use the ball in the guts and or long.

There's no point in taking risks by playing loose if you don't take risks with the ball when you get it.

And it's great to get some good ball movement for a change.

While it's very pleasing watching us score more heavily this year, we are also conceding a lot, too.

Only the bombers, WC and Dees have had more scored against them this year.

The forward line has generally functioned a lot better this year, due I think to a number of things - players maturing, midfield under less pressure when bringing the ball in, less reliance on Richo etc.

We've also had more avenues to goal than ever before. Average goalkickers per game:

1928 6.5

Even allowing for 2008 being a high-scoring year, 9.2 is a high figure. 2008 averages:

We've had 20 players kick 5 or more goals for the season. 5 goals might not sound a lot, but I always reckoned those ones from the likes of irregulars such as Andy Kellaway and Chaffey used to really hurt the opposition.

L2R2R, have you got these in Round order? (I'm being lazy, I know...)

very encouraging stats. i remember one time in the lowly spud years we went 18-20 games in a row withour reaching the 100 mark.

Forward line coaches must get a 'pat on the back' from last week's game. Noticed that they took every Richmond player matched up with Lovett-Murray to the goal square and used them as the prime go to target.

Better scoring and better rotations this year are particularly noticed in most games.

Well done to the forward coaching staff!

Not sure if this is what you mean, Freezer.
