Doesn't Collins wear 19??

The last to wear it with greatness - Greg Strachan - 1980 Premiership defender

Can anyone tell me what number Neeld (from Geelong) wore? :headscratch

;D Neeld wore 19 at RFC also you can add that dud to Hamilton, Sziller, Fleming and Limbo

is 9 being retired in honour of Cambo for short term recognition?
when will it be active again?? who deserves it when it does come out of hiding again?
May i make a bad joke?? maybe JON should get it... :cutelaugh :cutelaugh

Foley knocked it back at the start of the year.

lol, are you saying Neeld was great geoffrey?

No way man, I remember him as the skinny blond fella that never went in for the hard ball. I thought after we delisted him we should never trade with Geelong again. Yep, we ended up with Biddiscombe.

Merv Keane wore #19 for a couple of seasons in the mid 1970's.

Keane wore 18.

Most people remember him in the #18, though I have a Footy Record from 1975 listing Keane as #19 and Garry Davidson as #18. He also wore #40 for a few years, including the '73 and '74 premiership wins.

Yeah I remember the #40 in those GF's. Looks like something bad happened while wearing #19 in the mid-70s :hihi

Going by those names whove worn #19 i reckon that guernsey should be incinerated.

Perhaps we could hand it to the lowest draft pick we take each year. With that number there'd be no pressure to live up to it. But who would we get to present it???

#19 has only been worn in two of our 10 premiership wins - Strachan (1980) and Jack Anderson (1932, in his 4th game).

Jack Symons sported #19 at Richmond for 11 seasons and 111 matches, missing selection in the 1934 and 1943 flag sides and carrying it in the 1940 and 1942 GF losses. During the 1944 season he transferred to Fitzroy, playing in their final premiership team against Richmond - wearing #19.

Some other #19s at Richmond - Peter Wilson, Brett "Birdman" Evans, Glynn Hewitt (Lleyton's dad).

That was the one I was trying to remember. In 1973 or 74 every Richmond player with a number below... 25(?) played a senior game IIRC. Jeez we were organised.

1973 - good memory Jack, although we didn't have a #18 that year (or at least one who played a senior game).

During 1947, every player from #35 down played at least one senior game; 1948, #34 down; 1949, #33 down.
