Yep, I appreciate i saw a winning GF,

But I was talking about the winning culture we once had.

I always wonder if life would have been different for our club if we had won 1982. I dunno, i think it was gonna implode sooner or later anyways.

but thinking of that awful day makes me mad! i am sure it buggered with my HSC exams!

After the GF, our captain, vice-captain, and deputy vice-captain (Cloke, Raines & Wood) all left the club. I think Bourke's man management and communication skills were very poor. I have no doubt if Tony Jewell was still coach in 1982 we'd have won that flag, then who knows beyond that. But our club has been its own worst enemy for years. I often go back to losing Hafey in 1976 as the real shame. Look at what he was able to do with a collection of rabble at Collingwood. Can you imagine what he could have achieved if he was able to mould that 1980 side his way? I'd better stop writing before I reach for another valium tablet.

Too much arrogance in our off-field is what killed us for these 25+ years (barring one flag and one GF appearance)

I know they've been there a lot more than us but Colliobbles have only won one flag in 50 years.
It seems like only yesterday they were all gloating around the place but it's been 17 years.
I think the point I'm making is even if your loaded with cash and the your in the AFL's pocket it's still bloody hard to win a flag, so hang in there I reckon we're on the right track :cupgold

Yep 1982--we were 20 something points up when Helen Damico strutted her stuff ---changed the whole ebb and flow of that game and handed the Blues the flag.
I will never forgive her!

Funny how 1 woman could have a massive effect on the outcome of a game.

The other team didn't seem to have a problem with it, can't see why it would have effected the RFC.

Why can't you blame the team members of the RFC ?

Oh, that must be it, Eve started all of this.... :scold

My old man use to reckon that Carlton were a bunch of "nancy boys"-perhaps this explains it feisty!!

Actually we led by 11 points at half time. Carlton kicked the first two goals of the third quarter and were a point in front when she came on. If any team stood to benefit from the shift in momentum that her appearance caused it was Richmond.
