PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

This ladder shows which clubs have done best so far out of the 2001/2002 draft.

Subsequent drafts to follow.

I think if Richmond are to boost recruiting we should know which model to follow.

The ladder is based on average number of games each draft pick per club has played from that draft.

West Coast 81
St Kilda 74
Geelong 71
Fremantle 71
Hawthorn 63
Richmond 49
Carlton 42
Collingwood 41
Western Bulldogs 38
Sydney 37
Port Adelaide 37
Melbourne 37
Essendon 30
Adelaide 28
Kangaroos 24
Brisbane 14

So in the 2001/2002 draft, the average number of games each of West Coast's draftees has played is 81.

As an additional statistic, below is how many 10 game or less players each club drafted that year (draftees who are yet to play more than 10 games):

Adelaide: 2
Brisbane: 2
Carlton: 1
Collingwood: 1
Eseendon: 1
Fremantle: 0
Geelong: 0
Hawthorn: 1
Kangas: 3
Melbourne: 2
Port Adelaide: 1
Richmond: 1
Saints: 1
Sydney: 2
West Coast : 0
Bulldogs: 2

Once I have done all drafts up until 2006/2007, we will know just how good/bad our recruiting really is, and which club really knows it's stuff, especially when compared to their recruiting budget. I will perhaps finish with a games played/recruiting dollar spent ratio.
