Anyone got any ideas of where we will realistically finish in 2003?

I will be first to have a crack. Disagree please, but make sure you justify your responses.

Round One : A must win. If ever our season was to get off to a good start, then this is the game that will spur our team on for 2003. This could mean making the finals or not.

Rounds Two to Five : If the tigers are to have a realistic chance on making a good impact, these are must win games.

Position after Round Five, Must be at least 4 wins

Rounds Six to Nine : Hard work is required. If we beat Essendon, then we could have a chance against Melbourne. We will only match Port if we have all cylinders firing.

West Coast is a tough game. I hope we travel well.

Position after Round Nine : Possibly showing a 5 win, 4 loss record.

Rounds Ten to Thirteen. Must beat Sydney, Kangaroos and Carlton. All must wins. And by margins.
Brisbane will be an excellent indicator of exactly how far we have come, and how far we have to go.

Will be a great game as it is after the break.

Position after round Thirteen : 8 wins, 5 losses

Rounds Fourteen to Seventeen . Adelaide after Brisbane – Could destroy our season if we get thrashed. At best, be competitive. Must beat Geelong, Must beat Bulldogs.
Collingwood will be tough, if they do not have any loss of 2002 form.

Position after round Seventeen : 10 wins 7 losses

Rounds Eighteen to Twenty Two. Hard times ahead. Fremantle away is a must win, Then St Kilda is a must win.

The difficulty is winning one of the last 3 games to consolidate a finals spot. Possibly find it with Hawthorn.

After 22 rounds : Richmond 13 wins 9 losses, Finish 7th?

Anyone else have a plan for 2003?

If we are fair dinkum as a club we need to go into each and every game with the attitude of believing we will win.

Take it one week at a time LT ;D.

On your comments:

I still don't rate collingwood as a top side. They finished with a 13-9 record which got them into the top 4 (which is rare) and they only won 2 of their last 8-9 games. They have a top coach and are an honest and extremely hard-working side especially for each other but like the pies' sides of the late 70's-early 80's they lack that bit of class. With our full side we should beat them both times.

With dutchy out, rounds 1-5 will be important. With him in and fully fit I would expect us to win at least 4 if not all 5. It will be interesting to see who fills in as CHB and whether our new midfield (with greater ability to rotate around the ground like you said LT) can dominate and deliver often to our strong forward line. If they can then we should be on our way.

All 5 interstate games will be tough but that's not suprising given 3 out of the top 4 sides this year were non-Victorian. We could end up being Victoria's best contender for the flag  not that I care about interstate rivalry - that's why I was glad brissy won the flag and not collingwood.

If we get a good run on the no-injury front we should do well during the home and away season. From there it's all a new competition and anything can happen :).

Oh at Christmas time, we can all dream of 15 wins in 2003.

Lets be serious.  If Richmond were any good, we should win 22 games.

Ho, Ho, Ho....

Nah I don't dream of 15 wins, I expect 15 wins, ha. ;D
I dream of 22 wins.....nah actually I expect that too.
I look at every round and see us winning. I put in a token couple of losses in case people didn't take me seriously. :cheekysanta

The matches that really worry me are against the Bulldogs and Geelong. We are pretty evenly matched across the ground, but they both scrap alot harder than we are prepared or have the ability to.

The only thing that will cost us games this year that are winnable is if we are as SOFT as we were against the above mentioned and St Kilda in 2002.

Me thinks 13-14 wins is a very realistic and achieveable target for 2003.

Hope every tiger had a great Xmas

RR :) :)

We have 5 games interstate in 2003 - we must win at least 2 of those.

Danger game = Carlton - we always struggle against teams coached by Pagan.

We need to get off to a decent start. By round 7 - I would hope we are 4-3 or 5-2. I think we can go 5-2 if the talls stay healthy. From there anything is possible.

Rounds 9 to 15 seem mega dangerous. 3 of our interstate games - including Brisbane.
