It's time to vote for the prestigious 'Punt Road End Player Of The Year'
3-2-1 votes can be awarded based on whatever criteria you choose, not necessarily most stats etc.

Depends how you judge it personally TF. I reckon our backline saved us from major embarrassment so will get my top vote.
Richo did try his heart out, but he is there to kick goals and 6 misses from set shots costs points imo.

3-Darren Gaspar
2-Wayne Campbell
1-Mark Coughlan

Re:player of the year

Very disappointing night for everyone including the boys.

My votes would have gone this way

3 Wayne Campbell
2 Darren *smile*, Andrew Kellaway, Ty zantuck
1 Mark *smile*

I thought our backline saved us from being completely overrun and being beaten by a very large score. Wayne did everything that he possibly could have, he just didn't have enough help on the night from others.

That must have really hurt to give Wayne "soon to be 5 times B&F" Campbell 2 votes Rosy.

I'm proud of you ;D

Re:player of the year

Yeah maybe I should reassess. Duncan does better on Buckley than Campbo can.
I wonder if all you Dunc knockers would have given him votes had he played and stopped Buckley from gathering Brownlow votes and leading his team to a win?
I think not TF, ha. Accept we see it differently, and I admire the often unrecognised efforts of defensive players. Sometimes it's less about our players stats than the man he played on.
I hope I don't have to justify my voting to you all season, ha. ;D

Re:player of the year

3 - Wayne Campbell - can't believe he cops as much as he does, has been carrying this club for many years. Just racks up the touches, never gets beaten one on one, thank god he was there last night. Likely he'll get suspended though, threw one while wrestling in the back pocket at one stage.

2 - Darren Gaspar - great job on Tarrant. Again.

1 - Mark Coughlan - thought his work in close was pretty good, not his best game, but still contributed.

Others worth a mention in the bests - Newman, Rodan, Fiora and Hall

Honorary mentions to GAS, AK, ZANTUCK.

JR I actually thought FIORA was a lot cleaner than most last night and was about the only one who could actually spot up and hit a target on the run

Re:player of the year-ROUND 1 VOTES

3 - Campbell - for someone clearly underdone I thought his effort was great. Also, for someone constantly under the microscope in the leadership area he lead from the front

2 - Richo - the little 1%ers that no-one ever talks about were great. he chased, tackled and didn't drop his head. To get the ball as much as he did with the ball coming into the forward line the way it was was just a terrific effort.

1 - Cogs - looked stronger and went in harder. Looks the goods

Special mentions - Rodan - thought for a kid in his 2nd year playing a position and role he's never had to before, his effort was great. Yep we robbed the forward line to have someone quick on Davis but I thought he did a good job and not once did he drop his head.

Zantuck - another underdone but went in hard as always.

Newman - did a good job on Didak and tackled well.

*smile* - disposal continues to be average at times but he did "lead" the backline by attacking the ball hard.

1 - Campbell

Honourable mention: Campbell

Sriously though, I thought Coughlan, Rodan, Kellaway, Newman and *smile* did well, and Richo put in a big "effort", even though he was the difference in the end. I think someone should tell him to try and snap his kicks for goal rather than attempting drop punts. His run straight into goal is more wonky that a medieval cart on a dirt road.

Nice to see our new improved midfield in action. Campbell improved, the rest degenerated. Johnson did a sterling job in making figjam look good and Blumfield made Houlihan look like Barry Hall.

However, generally I was really pleased to see our endeavour at the ball. Thought we were really committed and were really unlucky that Collingwood got a couple of assy goals from that mentally unstable brute Jarrod Malloy and a few others which swung the game.

Re:player of the year-ROUND 1 VOTES

I can only count votes where people have given 3-2-1 or it gets too confusing working it out.
If anyone who has given multiple (Tom_Hafey, Julz, JohnF) wants their votes counted they'll need to edit their posts to only include 3 players.

Haha I wonder how Gas would have gone if he had the same 6 or 7 set shots that Richo missed, probably would have slotted the lot.
How come Richo can't run in straight or put the ball on the foot properly after so many years of specialised coaching in that dept?
