2004 Draft

Wasted draft for me.

That should have been a draft you build on for years. Take out the first two and there are massive question marks over the rest.

Lace Out's looking pretty solid too isn't he Scoop? His kicking has certainly hit at least adequate.

Also, the club can't be held ultimately responsible for Meyer having debilitating hip injuries can they?

I am not sure why this viewpoint persists. As a muscles-skeptic I have been watching him closely this season. He has been backing himself, taking on tacklers (successfully), waiting to find the best option (not always the first option) and delivering the ball well (by foot!). He has become our best defender this season and his aggro is just a bonus.

he was painted by many on here as a bad kick from the day we drafted him. he rarely turns the ball over but the reputation has stuck
he is a rough cut diamond

Adequate? If you say so.

The Hip? No not at all. Doesn't excuse the fact that he was never a top 12 pick. We needed ball getters and no skinny runts. Meyer was a outisde player who was a rake. Wrong pick.

id say its better then adequate disco

its actually good over short and long distances and he is not afraid to go for a risky option. it shows confidence

When you look at it,

You've listed 6 players, plus Thursfield who was a rookie, makes 7, plus the two you left off makes 9.

So 7 of the 9 are now regular Tiger footballers.

And that draft was 4 to 5 years ago.

Pretty successful draft for the Tiges, considering we had little or no info to go on.

Limbach was an experiment.

And Meyer was a mistake.

Yep, in retrospect a good draft for the Tiges.

(Greg Beck may rise from the ashes after all.) :hihi

Now if you want to talk 2005 .........?

Hey yeh, you've brought Bling back from the bench I see.

Lids&Bling
Lids&
Lids&Cotch
LidsBling&Cotch
What happens if Lids has a form lapse?

You've got almost as many personalities as The Dr.
;D

Other than Lids, this draft has produced a bunch of average footballers getting a game in a *smile* side....part of the reason we are a *smile* side is we have so many average footballers. IMO the fact that X number are regular players does not make it a good draft...I think the fact that X number are regular players is a reason why we are a *smile* side!

You don't?

We also desperately needed players who could use the ball well, which was Meyer's strong point. Given Lewis was gone, what decent ball winner was available and on the radar at pick 12?

14. Danny Meyer

11. Danny Meyer

very well said we are still near the bottom and these players are regulars, what does it say. i know what the ferals will say give em time. :hihi

With 5 picks in the top 20, we should have expected at least 4 that would be regularly in the best 22. That we have achieved. To have also got 2 KPPs outside of that is exceptional. I think where this draft falls down is that we had a reasonable expectation that 2 of the first 5 would be A-grade players, and we only got one. Still, we've had worse drafts.
