Re: Player of the year - Round 22 vs Swans

3 - Harts
2 - Richo
1 - Jackson
With Harts and Jackson late picks, who says we cannot recruit long term stars of the RFC ... you won't get it right every time.

Congratulations Joel Bowden-PRE player of the year.

Congratulations on willing this prestigious award Joel. ;D

This win bodes well for Joel on Jack Dyer medal night. The winner is usually copied from our player of the year competition. OK Maybe we've just been astute judges in the past.

A magnificent second half of the season saw Joel pile on votes to overtake Nathan Brown who had led the voting right until the final round.

Richo also scored lot of votes in the second half of the season to finish in third place.

Joel's win is nothing short of a miracle seeing there are people on PRE who wouldn't give him a vote if he was the only Tiger on the ground and he won by 100 goals.

Modesty forbids me mentioning the wonderful job his president has done preparing him every week. :D

It hasn't always been easy. For example Joel has been known to head to the wrong ground. Understandable really cos we'd all prefer to be at the G too and that's where all our games should be played.

I'd like to make a special thank you to Redders for dobbing me in/daring me/putting up the challenge for me to take on Joel's presidency.

It's been a pleasure.

What do i feel about this :
(a) great that JB could turn around his career in such dramatic fashion ;
or
(b) awful that JB is the very best we have to offer at the moment.
I'm not sure

Re: Congratulations Joel Bowden-PRE player of the year.

The fact that "good judges" like Redford and Ridley would bag him unmercifully always meant he was a shoe in for our best and fairest.

Expect a big season from Ottens in 2005. 8)

A remarkable turnaround which should be rewarded by giving him the captaincy next year! Surprising and worrying the distance between 3rd & 4th in this poll.

Fair point Stu, I need to practice a bit of what I preach I suppose. (although don't try to get me sucking up to Billy Nicholls). Well done JB on a terrific achievement. Here's to more of it in '05 - maybe even as skipper.

Re: Congratulations Joel Bowden-PRE player of the year.

A great effort by Joel this season.

Is he our Chad Cornes? He's a few cm shorter, but can play a similar rebound role I reckon. Time will tell whether he can hold down CHB permanently.

Yes, 2017, 2019 and 2020... were very good years!

A terrific turnaround by JB, congratulations. I hope that he is able to continue in a significant role again in 2005. What are the punters views in regard TW and his plans for JB in 2005?

Re: Congratulations Joel Bowden-PRE player of the year.

Wallace is on record as being a big fan of Joel. Expect him to figure more prominantly next year, probably as an onballer and in some form of captaincy/leadership position.

IMO he shouldn't be played on the ball as he has been found wanting there in the past.
