2006 Draw

Not sure how you can have four first games but anyway, if we have to travel it may as well be early in the year.

AGree also that it is rubbish that the draw evens up over a period of years as quality teams differ from year to year hence it is impossible.

That should have been - "4 of our first 6 games" are played interstate" .
Sorry, I have now edited the original post

Apparently we travel interstate on 6 occassions.

Bring on the challenge of Interstate games.
When we start winning regular interstate matches, then I'll understand the RFC has come of age.

I'm with you there Skills. I don't think we have played two games against Brisbane in one season for years and years. A later season game in Melb against the Lions is OK for mine! I'd be more concerned about membership issues, costs, and what David Clayton has alerted us to, than what blade of green grass the team plays on (obviously that doesn't include The Telstra Tomb cos they don't have green grass :hihi).

Are you sure Pharace, I seem to recall beating them and them getting absolutely flogged the second time round in the more recent past, ie when they have won a flag.

Could have been 2001 Andi, we played in early May which could have meant a last or second last game of season return game I guess, but still three years since and some years before. Maybe I'm seduced by the prospect of a Legends game as a curtain raiser next year before a Brissy game :hihi

id happily play 6 interstate games if we were guaranteed to play 3 blockbusters all at the MCG and all as richmond home games vs. carl, coll and ess

couldn't agree more.
Good teams win interstate.

Good theory Skills and Jamo only one problem you will be waiting a while i think :hihi. Especially if the match committee think our players are fantastic as a stack of delude tiger fans do :hihi

we need to win the first 6 out of 8 to set up our yr but if that drew is true then i cant see it happening

Memberships will be interesting next season. What would it cost for a 16 game membership and how will it impact on the clubs turnover???????????

I don't think it does balance out poppa.  It's a contrived draw not a random one.  Collingwood travel interstate 6 times or in consecutive weeks a couple of times in a season. I'd like to see that.  By the law of averages evening things out they should have but it hasn't happened yet. ;)

Correcto Moondo

It is a contrived draw. Eddie has already stated several times "that Collingwood will play 14 games at the MCG next year"

I wonder how he alreadt knows this???

2 guess'

playing all those interstate games early could be a blessing in disguise, looking forward to the 2006 SUPER National Draft.

ps. i thought we played pretty well this year interstate ;)

I don't care where we play as long as the players give one hundred percent i wouldn't care if we played in the Villawood detention centre, we'd win easily with all the detainees fingers sewn together they wouldn't be able to hold onto the ball. :hihi :hihi :hihi

so my membership will go from an 18 game membership to a 16 game membership? should i be expecting a descrease in membership cost?

it sounds like a nightmare draw but after 3 games interstate this year we knew we were gonna pay for it next year...

The good for the city , COmmonwealth Games far outwieghs what we want for our footy club. OUr draw will be awful. The true gaugue to the dra will be how the Pies fair. If the imbalanced draw is spread acroos all the Melbourne Teams then so be it. We will suffer but bring on the 2006 Super Draft indeed. I think if we win as many games as this year I would be happy. Look what Carlton in 04 and the start of 05 and then fell in a heap. Quite easy to do. They had no draft picks fro a few years adn we pretty much wasted ours over the 01-02-03 drafts.

See this thread from Mika http://www.puntroadend.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=17682.0

where TW describes our draw as "shocking"

He knows this because it was part of the deal with the MCG that now allows all Prelims to be played at the right home ground (even if interstate). But I thought certain parties were trying to keep it quiet. Obviously Eddie wasn't one of them.
