Joel Bowden - Another good year by Joel. Was dangerous as an attacking defender and did fairly well on some key forwards giving away height and weight. 7/10

Patrick Bowden - Great pick up.  Looked to love playing under Terry and with his brother. Wasn't sure about him when we got him but had a great 1st year. 7/10

Nathan Brown - Only played 10 games this season, still troubled by his leg.  Looked to have been improving after the break but then injury forced an early finish to his season. Look for a big 2007. 5/10

Travis Casserly - Still yet to debut and seems a long term project.

Mark Chaffey - Played the last six games of the season and was serviceable in everyone. Was the right time for Chaff to retire. 3/10

Mark Coughlan - Started off a little slow to the season but was playing some great games before his knee gave way in launceston.  Highlight was his 35 disposals against Freo. 6.5/10

Brett Deledio - Played everygame except one and was getting a lot more attention from the opposition. Fair year with highlight being his ripper Vs the Crows. Expect big things next year. 6.5/10

Nathan Foley - Axel too, played everygame except one.  Was the tigers most improved player, great around the packs, expect big year next year. 7/10

Darren Gaspar - Hampered by injury and average form seen him play only a handful of games. Be interesting to see if he is with us next year. 5/10

Ray Hall - Inconsistent year and looked lost a lot of the time when out on the ground.  Will struggle to stay at tigerland. 4/10

Brent Hartigan - Played 7 games for the season before getting injured, was looking pretty good, but with the youngsters taking next steps is there a spot for him next year?  5/10

Cam Howat - Played the last 5 games of the season in the seniors and looked to be right at home. One to keep. 6.5/10

Cleve Hughes - Got a taste of the big time and looked to present well. Struggled at times back down in the lower grades. Looks like a good investment. 5.5/10

Jeremy Humm - Hummmmmmmmmmmm, didnt get much of an opportunity but didn't deserve much. Bush league looks likely next year. 2/10

Chris Hyde - Started off great but tampered off just a bit toward the end of the year. Solid pre-season should hold him in good stead for next season. 6.5/10

Daniel Jackson - Your guess is as good as mine?? Played 5 games early on but was hardly seen or heard of after that.  Still young so I believe we should keep. 3/10

Kane Johnson - Even though he didn't get huge possession counts had a great year shutting down the oppositions best on-baller.  Very good year, and a chance for the Jack Dyer medal. 7.5/10

Andy Kellaway - Seemed to be serviceable and reliable as he normally is throughout the year, but future uncertain as he is turning 31. Give him one more year i think.  6/10

Trent Knobel - Played 3 matches for a total of 8 possessions for the season.  I dont think he is the answer for Richmond's back up ruckman.  2/10

Andy Krakeour - Inconsistent as usual, had his great games and also his poor games. Didn't kick enough goals.  One that I won't be sad to see go, and I won't be sad if he stays. 5.5/10

Dean Limbach - Didn't get a senior game but showed signs in the lower grades.

Luke McGuane - Played 2 games and in one of them was toweled up by O'Loughlan.  Didn't show a lot but then again he is still only 19. 3.5/10

Danny Meyer - Played 8 games for the year.  Showed signs throughout them and looks likely to become a good player.  5/10

Kelvin Moore - 22 years old now and only played 2 games.  I think it is time to go.  2/10

Chris Newman - Was having a good year until he too sucummbed to a season ending injury.  Heard that his injury is going well though so should be right for round 1.  7/10

JON - Played 4 senior games and showed a little bit for his first year in senior football.  would want to play a few more than 4 next season.  5/10

Adam Pattison - Played 15 games this year.  Had some real quiet ones but also had a few good games that looked impressive. Should only continue to improve next year.  6.5/10

Kayne Pettifer - 31 goals for the season is a good return.  Work rate looked a lot higher this year in previous years.  another good year for kayne.  7/10

Dean Polo - What can I say? Came onto the scence in blistering fashion with his match winning performance against the bombers.  Used as a run with player and also got plenty of quality possession while in that role.  Looks a gem.  8/10

Andrew Raines - Superstar, strong aggressive and confident.  Would be a disgrace if he doesn't win the NAB rising star.  9/10

Matthew Richardson - Injury plagued year with a few quiet games but also same great ones.  Still showing that he is an absolute champion and can win a game off his own boot. 45 goals in 18 games. 7/10

Tommy Roach - Showed a little bit against the eagles in round 3 before getting injured, but overall disappointing year and maybe his last at tigerland.  2.5/10

David Rodan - 5 games for the season after a knee reco last year.  Usually takes a year to get back to your best after a serious injury but expected more.  Almost 23 years old, is it time to go?  3.5/10

Jay Schulz - Managed to play 12 games after another injury plagued year.  Showed signs but not heaps.  Next year has to be his year or Out.  4/10

Troy Simmonds - All-Australian ruckman, Jack Dyer Medallist, highest vote poller for the tigers he will achieve this year.  Sensational year and shut the doubters up about his 5 year contract.  9/10

Greg Stafford - was always on the cards that this was his last hurrah.  Was serviceable but not great, right time to go.  5/10

Richie Tambling - I believe this fella showed a lot of improvement this year and looks set to have a big one next year.  Starting to come good.  7/10

Will Thursfield - Unluckiest boy in the competitioin.  Has shown great signs in his handful of games and absolutely towelled up Riewoldt before doing his knee.  Hopefully he can come back just as good as he looked.  For his one game this season i give him 8/10 for his job.

Greg Tivendale - Started the season well, but then once again errors and indecision came back into his game as the season went on. Played all 22 games.  6/10

Shane Tuck - Was seen to have a down year compared to his great one last year.  Although, he still averaged over 20p's per game and made 72 for the year.  if that is a bad year, i cant wait for next year.  6.5/10

Matthew White - Played 11 games and seems to be a ready made footballer. Will only get better.  6.5/10

Angus Graham - No senior game this year.  Will be a long term project.

Overall Team - Lacking Key postion backman.  Hopefully with Will Thursfield coming back next year and maybe an addition of another KPB will give Joel more freedom, hence, will be even more dangerous.

I believe our midfield is fine.  The majority of the midfielders are still really young, therefore, will only improve year after year.

Hopefully with Brownie and Richo having good pre-seasons and injury free next season (touch wood), and also with Kayne continuing to rejuvinate his career, I also believe our forward line will look to be pretty dangerous.

At draft time I would be looking for Key defenders (either 18 years old or ready made) and also a long term projext key forward.

Overall I rate our season 6.5/10.  I believe we are heading in the right direction, but need finals next season!

Others thoughts??

Re: 2006 Player Review...

Good rewiew, but i would rate Polo 8/10 infront of bowdens, Deledio, Johnson, Pettifer, Tuck.

But overall ok

Re: 2006 Player Review...

good post but i disagree with this comment

"I believe our midfield is fine. The majority of the midfielders are still really young, therefore, will only improve year after year."

i believe our mids are way behind the top etchelon

johnson is ageing and cogs, tuck & foley are average plodders with low hurt factors
lids & bling are our only 2 potential star outside mids but they are kids with bodies to match

the likes of raines, howat, white, meyer have shown signs but are not ready for the middle yet

we need some serious grunt with footy smarts and skill in the middle..... IMO

Totally agreed. Look at the sides who are in the eight (apart from collingwood and crows) we were totally smashed in the centre and midfield. This is our biggest problem. We can get a CHB or FB but we must also address our midfielders. We need two hard nuts to support Foley, Tuck, Cogs, Johnno, Lids and Tambling.

Re: 2006 Player Review...

Good analysis Bunz.
Only a few changes.

Joel Bowden - Good season. Again asked to do the big jobs in light of few options. 8/10

Patrick Bowden - Mixed the brilliant with the poor. Suprised most. Good pickup. 6.5/10

Nathan Brown - Ineffectual due to injury. Looking for a better '07. 4/10

Travis Casserly - No senior games

Mark Chaffey - Poor disposal skills. Tried hard from limited games. 3/10

Mark Coughlan - Season curtailed by injury, was OK leading up to it. 5.5/10

Brett Deledio - Solid season. Tagged heavily. Needs to work on his defensive game. 6.5/10

Nathan Foley - Did well when given opportunity. 6.5/10

Darren Gaspar - Patchy form and injuries left a season he'd rather forget. 4/10

Ray Hall - Struggled with form and injury. Gives his all but not his best. 4.5/10

Brent Hartigan - On the outer. Promising first half of the season. 4.5/10

Cam Howat - Encouraging. Can use it, but too few games to pass judgement. 5.5/10

Cleve Hughes - Needs to work harder. Still young, shows ability. 3/10

Jeremy Humm - Only given 1 game. Obviously not worth persevering with. 1/10

Chris Hyde - Solid. Added goalkicking to his bow but tapered off after shoulder injury. 6/10

Daniel Jackson - Started well up forward. Disposal problems continued to haunt him. 3/10

Kane Johnson - Did some terrific tagging jobs but no longer has weapons of his own. 7/10

Andy Kellaway - Very solid season prior to injury. 6.5/10

Trent Knobel - Injured. Can't get possession of the footy. 1/10

Andy Krakeour - Patchy. Some good some bad. Has fitness issues. Same old story. 5.5/10

Dean Limbach - No senior games

Luke McGuane - Too skinny. Too young. Expect improvement in 07. 2.5/10

Danny Meyer - Also too skinny. Shows promise, expect improvement from dp12 in 07. 4.5/10

Kelvin Moore - Injury interupted season again. Will be lucky to stay on the list. 2/10

Chris Newman - Injured. Solid without being exceptional before that. 6/10

JON - Also too skinny, too young. Showed glimpses of why he went at dp7. 4/10

Adam Pattison - Poor kick, high workrate. Still raw. 5.5/10

Kayne Pettifer - Good season. Tapered off a little towards the end. 7/10

Dean Polo - Excellent season followed a brilliant debut. 8.0/10

Andrew Raines - Outstanding improvement. Should win the Rising Star. 8.5/10

Matthew Richardson - Ok year. Had injury problems. Tarred some average defenders. 7/10

Tommy Roach - Few opportunities. Jaw injury was bad timing. 2.5/10

David Rodan - Poor decision making in games, led to few opportunities. 2/10

Jay Schulz - Injured again. Stuggles when the ball hits the deck. Great conversion. 5/10

Troy Simmonds - Huge improvement in 06, almost an AA season. A beacon of light. 9/10

Greg Stafford - Terrible first half of the year. Kicked some late goals. 4/10

Richie Tambling - Shows glimpses of why he was dp4. Needs to work harder. 6/10

Will Thursfield - Punishing injury. Looked the goods. 3/10

Greg Tivendale - Started well and then fell away. Finished? 5/10

Shane Tuck - 2nd year blues. Struggled with workrate and extra attention. 6/10

Matthew White - Outstanding effort for a first year player. 7/10

Angus Graham - No senior games

Overall Team -

As mentioned desperately need key defenders. How we fix that who know?

The midfield is overated & poor in comparison to other sides.
We lack a genuine star in the centre at this point.

The team is definately in a transition period and the kids along with Troyboy have been the highlight all year. I'm enjoying watching our youngsters develop and we must show patience.

Year '06 was the good mixed with the atrocious. Hopefully we're improving? :-\ 6/10

My two cents.

Re: 2006 Player Review...

Can't believe Tambling is being rated higher than Krakouer. Tambling went missing in just as many games (if not more), and didn't have anywhere near the impact that Krakouer delivered for approx half the season in the ones he played reasonably well in.

I appreciate Tambling is younger, but lets rate on results, not potential.

Otherwise, pretty fair assessments. Talking up Pattison a bit much considering he's not actually had any sort of influence on a game yet, but otherwise ok.

Re: Bunnerz Rankings 2006 (for what its worth)

Good effort bunnerz, appreciate someione putting their opinions out there. Just curious how you did your points, ie players getting 86's & 94's etc! Also I think #19 is Limbach.

Limbach is 19 but he isnt in there because he didnt play a game.

yeah, looking back maybe Polo is a bit high on the scale?
anyone know simmonds odds for most tiger votes in brownlow?
