2006 vs 2007 - What's Changed???

Why hasn't TW seen it the way the spot onners have in this subject?
Ray Hall was inspirational last year. A guy like him really lifts the team, big time. He plays well above his weight which sadly is lacking in far too many of the players who have had a run thus far.
We could be in for a huge flogging Sat. For some guy's, not turning up on the day (and failing to draw inspiration from diggers and what this week of the year means), could well end their Tiger careers. Lets hope not >:(

We fell in against Carlton last year and ran out of luck this year. Nick Stevens won that game by his individual effort. If we played them in round 6 it would be a different story. The scum game was a major fizzer. Licuria, Burns, Lockyer and O'Bree ultimately won out against Johnson, Tivendale, Krakouer and Tuck. Most of those midfielders will be gone in three years, along with Buckley and Holland. That result means nothing in the long term.

You have me sold on your v.good post TOT70. This paragraph though ::) isn't exactly the way we should be interpreting our footy.

Why? We got them on an absolute high after their big pre-season win and their feel-good $2 million fund-raiser. We went into the game without any fit ruckmen and our best player. If we played them in round 6, they would be without their best player.

Four points is four points. Luck plays just as big a part as drafting. You take them where you can get them.

How happy were winless Freo to come up against Melbourne without Neitz, Robertson, Rivers, Johnstone and McLean? It got them back on track.

It could have been a completely different result if they played in 6 weeks time. What if Melbourne get their players back by mid-season and go on a rampage and beat Freo's rivals for a top 4 spot, one after the other. It could be good luck for Freo again.

Dont get me wrong TOT70. I know exactly what you mean. However, for too many years we have celebrated playing teams without their star players. In some of these matches we have won, but, at the end of the day have we really challenged ourselves?

Yeah, no worries. Agreed. Injuries etc should never be an excuse for not being good enough.

I just let my extreme hatred of Pratt's recycling plant cloud my better judgement. I'd hate to hand them even a back-handed compliment!

Considering the form of some of our "senior" players at them moment, i think we have probably slightly improved as a team and look more competitive. However if thier form doesn't improve, we will probably struggle to win much this year.
Once Simmo gets some fitness back and Brown returns (it's gonna happen) I really think we will go ok!!

West Coast didn't need to bottom out to win a flag. Brisbane, Essendon and Port seem to be doing OK this year without assistance from high draft picks. Bottoming out is a myth. You don't win flags with draft picks, you win flags by not accepting mediocrity, but having a win at all costs culture.

WC, Bris, Ess and Port are all rebuilding Premiership teams; they all still have a number of top quality Premiership players playing, around which they can blood the youngsters.

We have Krakouer...

Not sure that is the answer Bowdo. When and if he returns, one day of sunshine does not a summer make. Surely he would need two or three games to regain match fitness, and even then, we need more than just Browns return up forward. Simmo, I agree with that.
