i clicked 9th-12th but i think we will finish anywhere between 6th-10th. injuries and the draw will be a factor. imho we're on the brink of some exciting times

12-14th for me. But in saying that it is a step slightly backward to go very much forward in the years after that when our young guys start to truely get up to AFL tempo and feel comfortable where they are and what they can be.

I want to believe finals...

I break it down like this:

1. 16 teams / 8 finals places
2. At the bottom end at least 3 teams have write-off years each season = 13 teams / 8 finals places
3. At the top end we're not top 4 material, were not really competing with them= 9 teams / 4 finals places
4. We only need 1 finals place, so the other 3 are not needed and we are not competing with those teams = 6 teams / 1 finals place
5. We can expect to be better than 50% of the remaining teams 3 teams / 1 finals place
6. We are in a 3-horse race which only pays for the win. Worth a punt.

I think if we make finals next year, it might be a bit of a false dawn.

Richo and Gas might be able to eek out another great year between the two (Richo more likely than gaspar) and get us into 8th next year, but I think it might take us 1 more year of development of our younger brigade.

We still have Tivendale, Hall and Krakouer in our best 22, and probably auto selections. Until those guys are faced with having to really (and I mean really) fight for their spot, I can't  see us excelling.

2008, will depend on how well the young guys come up. I think our real "era" will start in 2009, coincidently just as Wallace is going for a contract renegotiation.

This is where I think you are wrong. Tiva, Hall and Krak will be the depth now, not the newcomers. I expect a real push from Meyer, Pattison and JON to push into the side. Not to mention the improvement of the likes of Tambling. I am also still hopeful of improvement from Krak and that he and Tambo may wax a bit more succesfully in 07.

I should have added to that the names of Cogs, Newman, Brown and with a bit of luck Thirsty and the inclusion of Polak. That indicates to me that with a reasonable run with injuries that Hall and Tivendale in particular will not be definetly names penned in for a game each week. I hope TW works out what to do with P. Bowden. I don't know why but his position in the team bothers me a little. We need strong accountable bodies in the backline. (I don't put PB in that category). Don't get me wrong, he has impressed in some ways. I wonder if there is a spot for him either in the forward line or on the wing.

Opinions on this would be appreciated.

I just wish PB was more accountable as he is exactly the type of player we need but he just isn't physical enough. And we don't want the likes of him getting in Richos way either. You'd take PB's skills and add Newman's courage and you'd have an awesome CHB. But alas :doh :doh :doh
