PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

I remember going to training quite some time ago ( in 2005) and watching a short kid having some one on one kicking coaching and thinking to myself “You’ll find it hard to make it son, too small, too young….”

Boy was I wrong. :o

First time Nathan made a real impression on me was that fabulous game against Hawthorn at the Dump in 05 when we were behind all day and got up in the last minute to beat them. Ms Tantie and I were watching this kid go in, get bowled over only to get straight back up, go in again and get knocked over again! It seemed no matter how many times they knocked him down he’d just get up and get on with the job of getting his hands on the footy. We were both impressed with his G & D and christened him “Weeble”.

I was able to have a chat with Nathan at a function last year and was impressed with his down to earth easy going manner (this in a room full of Tiger Lilies ;D), caught up with him at training a few times too….. he was always polite and informative.

Since his first game in 2005 he’s worked hard and gone from rookie to senior list, from Nathan Who? to NAB Rising Star nomination, from fringe player to Generation Next to “Why is he spending so much time on the pine Terry?”.

2006
Nathan played 21 games in 2006 winning a Rising Star nom in round 19 against Brisbane.
He finished 2nd in hardball gets, 2nd in tackles and 5th in handballs for 06.

2007
In round 1 he had 26 disposals. Last Saturday he kicked a screamer of a goal on the run.

So Nathan, should you attend any Tiger Lilies function this year……… ;D
