2007 richmond shining lights (yes there are some)

to me there have been 2 shining lights this season with some other promising moments.

number one shining light is graham polak......graham polak is an excellent recruit and is alredy showing just how good of player he is

our number 2 shining light for this depressing start to the season is none other than hard ball winner nathan foley...this guy is the hardest guy at the footy in our whole team and has been our best player for the season i have no dought that at this stage he is clearly leading our best and fairest with consistent 25-30 odd possis each week he has been a shining light this season yes he sometimes makes a bad decision or floats a kick but everyone does :clap

these are mi two shining lights please let me no if you think theres any others but in a very dissapointing season to me theres just two tho there has been some young guys who have done some promising things i dont feel they neew mentioning until they put in a full game.

Only going on what I've read on PRE and heard elsewhere, Jack Reiwoldt's attitude is an emerging shining light.

Polack has been a revelation-bear in mind he could not get a game in Freo's team last year, I reckon he would be 2nd or 3rd in our B&F this year. Excellent trading.

I might be a bit biased but Tambling has showed plenty. The 4 in a quarter has shown that when he is on his game he is more than capable at the highest level. He is young so those burst performances will become far more consistant as he matures and his body gets three good pre-seasons into him.

Foley is as tough as nails and his disposal is not nearly as bad as supporters make out. His decision making is sometimes a little off, but he is still learning the caper. He has it in him to be in the top bracket of AFL midfielders.

Cleve is coming along nicely, in a team like the dogs where he would be getting lace out passes he would kick 50 a year imho.

Richo is still busting his nuts as always, not a lot to look forward to in the future but it is good to see he isn't just coasting during his last few years.

I absolutely agree that Polak and Foley have been standouts. Roses amongst thorns.

Bling's four goals in a quarter against the reigning premiers has been a highlight.

I may be clutching at straws, but the continued improvement of McGuane, Hughes, Schulz and the return of Newman have been pleasing.

The good form of Coburg and the exciting reports of Jack Reiwoldt have also kept me sane.

Foley is the biggest i think, Great year so far

Polak is looking good and is struggling to DROP a mark at the moment :P

Tambling has shown glimpses but I would like to see some consistancy

Mcguane was looking good for the first 4 or 5 but has struggled the last few weeks

Jack has played well at all the Coburg games i have seen and would expect him in this week after traveling to Adelaide to watch from the sidelines

And Newmans recovery has been fairly impressive

YES - hard for anyone except Diggs and Laff (but I repeat myself) to deny

More, more, more........... even Krak did similar to this in his early days...

Give it time, give it time to see if it is enduring.........

yeah..totally agree with tambling....has star potential....just need maybe a couple more pre-seasons into him to get the fitness and body cherry ripe.....one player wallce compares tambling to is shaun burgoyne...and i had a look at his height and weight...about 183 which i think is not alot taller than tambling..but he's a whopping 89 kg...there goes the difference right there i think...in a couple more years...when tambling gets his body right he'd be super hard to stop aroudn the ball..

polak no doubt great recruit...can hold down back and set up our runners...

foley definitely leading our b&f by far...potential to be a super midfielder...built a bit like sam mitchell but with much better speed...can get the pill like him too

cleve is definitely coming along well....very good on the lead...when we get the run from the half-back line and lace out to him at half forward....he's hard to stop....(didn't get the opportunity to do taht against port)...helps when he can kick it 60m like he did against WCE as well...definitely suited better at CHF...at this stage still not strong enough to play in goal square....past few games..get outbodied a couple of times...nearly took the marks..but not quite...

Agree - Foley, Polak are the standout highlights and Hughs has shown enough to suggest he will be good.

Someone needs to teach Foley he doesn't need to bounce the ball on the first step - take a look a Judd who puts in hard and then considered a bounce or finding the best option. Raines can go along to the same lesson - the club must have an incetive system based on # of bounces. I have watched Foley do this for a few weeks now - surprised someone hasn't got it out of his game.

Foley and Polak. Hughes in glimses. Nothing else.

Yeah...thats what I reckon.

I think Hughes would be even better (and along with that, Schulz)...if the team played to a gameplan that suited their skills (or lack of)...by getting it down there as quick as possible, to Hughes and Schulz (who rely on leading into space), instead of farting around with it on half back, and allowing the oppsoition to flood and fill space.

Foley has been excellent in the middle.

Foley and only Foley.

Polak is supposed to be a defender and I haven't seen him beat his opposite number chf yet. Other signs are reasonable to good though.

I don't do "glimpses" so no-one else rates for mine though Schulz seems to be playing in a consistent position and to a plan and hallelujah for that.

yes nath does seem to bounce after a step but i beleive it balances him and gives him confidence to run...
