Yes it's time.
It's also time the club gave up the no.17 jumper for captains aswell.
I just don't like the idea. I would sooner see a player with the one number his whole playing life.

I AGREE

thats feels kinda weird

in the article on the rfc website, lids is talkin about the positives to come out of the game. simmonds good, this good that good. you just got spanked by half a collingwood side. what positives?? be realistic, and stop looking for positives when you get beaten. losing is not acceptable and you dont look for positives out of that kind of game.
lids hasnt shown enough....yet. and by the way hes speakin in that article its an indication that the mediocre rfc mentality over the last 20 years has got to him also. we need a mongrel as a captain, someone who hates losing, who will put his hand up when the going is tough, and lead by example. stong fierce, bullocking unrelenting hard at it. this was what richmond was all about (and successful)......a long long time ago!!

Of course he outlined the very few positives out of Friday's game. What do you expect on the club website? ::) They're not going to put an article Deledio calls for duds to be axed (as much as some of the posters on here would like to see that :hihi) on the official site.

There's a couple of questions with Lids in the jsquad mag and one of them is about being a future leader. His answer is "I don't know if I have a desire to captain the Richmond Football Club just yet, but it is certainly something I wouldn't turn down if it came my way" So how bout we stop pushing our own wants onto some of our players before they're ready to handle it.

fair enough comment tigersgoddess.
but realistically, who wants to read bull like this.
its total crap and deflecting from the truths about the game.
dont put a bull$%*t article on the site, telling us about positives, and have one of our young boys try and promote this!!
tell us how ur gonna fix the problems!!

No one, I read the heading and rolled my eyes but unfortunately the type of article we want won't appear on the website it's all about the positives even when there aren't any.

thats the first step, actually admitting there are problems.
its worse trying to cover it all up. were not all wearing rose coloured glasses rfc...

Jack Reiwoldt has more leadership qualities than our team put together. He hasnt played a game yet but i hope to hell he becomes a star cause he will be the next premiership captain if he does.

I love the way Kane Johnson leads our club on the field and I hope he stays captain until he retires after a couple of premierships.

But if he is to relinquish the Captaincy at the end of this year then I would make MATTHEW RICHARDSON our captain until he retires.

RICHO is RICHMOND through and through and the responsibility of CAPTAINCY may well temper some of his over-enthusiasm and turn him into the BALL TEARING CHAMPION that he truly deserves to be remembered as.

VOTE 1 - RICHO.

I love the big fella.

But no, I wont vote that way.

His kicking for goal is uninspiring - as captain it would set the trend. Richo would not be a good captain.

President, Chairman of Selectors, Director of Football, Coach, Captain (+ Vice and Deputy Vice) - VOTE 1 - C.JUDD.

(Qualification - only if he comes to Richmond; otherwise he's just a pr**k like all the rest not wearing Y&B.)
