2008 = Go for broke or Tank

I probably err on the side of darkness, however I don't subscribe to the theory of tanking, certainly not before the season's even begun. (Get me to round 18 and there's a Natanui Cup for the taking, I might think differently.)

There's a plethora of holes in the list, we all know that, but I'd rather we were out to win every game, and make better recruiting decisions with whatever picks we end up with, than losing games in the hope we end up with a low picks (which we'll probably trade away anyway).

If that means it takes an extra couple of seasons, then so be it - what's an extra couple after all this time? At least we won't be flanker tanker wankers like Carltank.

no one has ever said tanking/draft picks = premiership formula

No-one hey? I can scrounge up many posts of people who think this is the secret. If it's not part of the formula then why do it?

all it does is give you the opportunity to get the best kids in the land at the present time and a chance of some sustained success, people always say the saints never won a flag with their highly talented list while some others say they made 3 consecutive finals appearances including 2 prelims with a list that was killed by injurys but they still had enough talent on the park to do very well, could a side made up of 3rd rounds picks do the same?

Most teams get a 1st and 2nd round pick, so don't understand the reference to a side of 3rd round picks. And yes the most successful teams are not one's who have tanked for the best draft picks.

tanking is not a losing mentality, its just smart business

Ridiculous statement but we're all entitled to our opinions.

Can we run a tank over the top of the losers that spend year after year snivelling and begging on their knees for us to fail.
A couple of quick 360's would ensure they never rear their ugly heads again.
If you're gunna go down at least go down kicking and screaming not grovelling with your nose on the deck and your arse in the air for everyone to have a piece of.

They'd complain somebody else got more pieces out of their arse than them Maso :hihi

What do you expect from spawn of Craig?

Go for broke or tank? Not sure they are mutually exclusive activities.

It is a dumb question.
If we were to 'tank' we will be in absolute turmoil.

Miller and Wallace gone.
Our best footballers closer to retirement.
Disillusioned fans
Another spoon in the cupboard and a bigger joke than we are now.

They must go for broke, it's a huge year for the Richmond Football club on many levels...

totally agree.. huge year

Agree TM - Like Mr T says - GET SOME NUTS!

Maybe we can take some advice from Carltank, they really hit the jackpot with their tactics. :cutelaugh

Forget about tanking, I want to see us win as many games as possible.

Remember Richmond is a proud club (despite a nightmare 25 years).

With Bartlett coming back to the club, I see rights may just turn the corner.

Let's take one step at a time and make the finals. Hawthorn had a bad 2006 and managed to do well in 2007. Alot of people including myself had the Kangaroos to finish near the bottom and the made the prelimary final.

If we can field our best 22 each anf every week, I cant see why we can't have a successful year in 2008. With successful, I mean make the finals.
