2008 Ladder predictions

i expect the tigers to do a bulldogs 2 years ago slow start and come home really well finish about 10 to 7 09 will be when we earn our respect

RFC : 13 - 16

RFC deficiencies from last year still remain:
1) Lack of depth in the Ruck department [We saw what happened when Simmonds was injured].
2) CHB is still a problem, all this hoopla about Rance covering a key position in his first year is nonsense [wishful thinking perhaps] but still unrealistic.
3) Where do we play Polak he was recruited to primarily to play at CHB but seems a better option at CHF as he does not have to worry about minding a key forward.
4) Development of a FF, Schulz no matter how big he looks at this preseason is missing a vital ingredient "determination".
If he has not developed it after all this time, how is he going to get it bestowed overnight manna from heaven through a Divine [You think your a man but only a boy] bestowment?
5) Jury is still out on Tambling, Meyer, JON, Moore, Hughes and others.
6) Coughlan is an unknown quantity do not expect him to have any great impact after 2 knee reconstructions.

While we have marginally improved our list with better recruiting this year the fact still remains we are a good side against the bottom 4 - 5 teams but struggle to beat any team of substance.

I don't think we'll go a lot better than last year. I can't see the side getting off the bottom. I don't think we'll even get out of the bottom 4 until 2011. Not necessarily a bad thing, for years Richmond has needed to do a proper rebuild, get and develop good players all over the ground and give them experience, make them hungry. The way I see it it's going to take until at least 2011 before it will all come together.

This is probably the 2008 ladder ???
Geelong
Carlton (Because of Juddy)
Collingwood
Kangaroos
Westcoast
And the rest you can decide because I have no idea what the rest are gonna be! :headscratch

I agree.
Just can't see where there's enough improvement coming from yet. :-\
Whilst the overall quality of player is improving there are too many young, light framed players to challenge most teams.
No one will fear us.
It's going to be more pain in '08 I'm afraid.

I am surprised at these predictions.

I am a real believer that this game is played between the ears so to speak more than anything.

I reckon they will be switched on next season, and we will end up finishing around the top of the bottom eight sides.

could somebody please explain to me why carlton are seen by some people to so much better next year as compared to 2007. yes they now have judd which im sure will be a great player for them. stevens is coming back , yeah he looked good in a crap carlton team but definately not in the top 10 mids in the comp is in a similar situation to cogs, murphy very overrated atm & gibbs what has he done apart from been given charity games because they just dont have any depth. so judd, stevens, & a very young skinny ruckman with the no1 drat pick which POTENTUALLY could become a good player. they have 1 good foward in fev(if he doesnt lose the plot) terrible rucks , and no backline . imo gaspar & p. bowden would walk straight into the carlton backline. on the flip side they have lost whitnall , kouta & lappin thats a fair amount of talent and exprnce thats no longer there... where is the improvement going to come from.. on that note carltank last again, geelong to go back2back, tigers oooh noo 9th

judd + no tanking = carlton improving in 08

we on the other hand didnt tank and still ended up last, its going to take a bit more than morton and sanchez to get us anywhere near finals

u can add further improvement from the current youngsters + cogs, brown, simmo and polo not a bad quartet if i dont say myself.... oh yeah and cause ul find every way to try and turn it into a negative like simmo and cogs coming back from injury who knows whether they'll hold up blah blah blah...same can be said about Judd and nick stevens.

what a brian stroming analogy, well if i was a carlton supporter and i read that it must mean we're on the up! summarised in its entirety!

do i hope we smash them in rd 1 and judd gets injured of course, but if things go right for them they will improve AT like it or not

with the current list richmond have, i cant possibly see us having a bad year as 2007 . we had to many injuries early which draged our confidence down after the shocking geelong game. in 2006 i think we had 4/5 losses over 100 points from memory we only had 1 in 07. there were a fair few games we were in front or still in it in the last quater in 07 but just didnt have enough experience to get over the line. i see us in a very simialar position to2006 with a top 8 finish in 09 . we ha no input from t.knobel,kingsley,*smile*,hall.cogs,simmo,polo, & brown. we effectively were 8 players short on our list and the last 4 i mentioned are a handy lot. the coll, ess, w/coste games towards the end are more of an indication of where we are not 16th.

happy to hear that dont we all.....ok they might if everything goes right for them but so can we if things go right for us...We're on the right track i can really see it even with our last finish this year! The hawks spent 3 yrs down and have now sprung up, the blues have been down and ur confident they'll shoot up, the tiges in the last 3 or 4 drafts whether trade, ND, PSD and Rookie have recruited pretty well and we'll bear the fruits of these players in the coming years. I know all wont make it but hey thats the nature of the beast all clubs go through that.

What happens if they lose the first 5 in a row. Would they be pathetic enough to tank three years in a row?
