2008 Player's Club Annual Dinner Draw

Yeah they're all yours Premiers.

The names have all been given to Rachael at RFC.

Phantom, Yinnar Tiger, Kiwitig, bowden4president, Premiers08 & son  for tonight's function and Phantom for the Boardroom function.

Have fun eveyrone. :D

Greg Miller spoke, apologised that Stephen Wright couldn't be there because he was in Canberra trying to increase the $27M for the punt road upgrade. Good luck to him!! The gym was looking dated.

Obviously Polly was on everyones mind so he let us know what was going on. Recovery going very well - too well and the doctors are trying to slow it down. Good news! Cleve and Jordy have visited and this has help them too. There was a card there for us to sign which was a nice touch.

Miller was taking Polaks family to the dishlickers that night (their choice - they wanted a bet). Which also increased him in my estimation.

He then interviewed the 4 players there (Edwards, Connors, Rance and Polo). Good interview, better than any journalist - bordered on sledging at times but not quite and done in a very good manner, very interesting insight.

After that opened the locker rooms. Yes they stink!! Interesting stuff on the wall. The coaches were pissed with the weekend...feedback was brutal. Lazy, ineffective etc words on the forwards notes!! A least they are honest.

Had a good chat with Rance. Very impressive young man - was a bit pissed off (my take on it) that he didn't go top 10 in the draft (Adelaide and NM both said they would take him) but was over it and had worked his way from Coberg reserves to fringe of seniors.

Overall good and interesting night....

As an aside, I though it was one sponsor per player but was up to 9 (I think) and some were unsponsored. Something to think about for next year.

Thanks for the report Kiwi. It's really appreciated by those who'd love to attend functions but can't.

Interesting that there are unsponsored players. I usually ask if any don't have sponsors. I was told last year they were all sponsored at least once. We originally came to sponsor Dan and Tucky through me asking if any players weren't sponsored. We were their first, and only for a year, sponsors. That's why I like to stick with them both.

Did anyone think to take any photos of the lockers?

here's our players lockers

My mobile phone(LG TU550) is as useful at taking photos as my camera (Panasonic DMC-FZ5) is for making phone calls. :thumbdown

Sorry, none of the photos came out very well. I promise if I get another chance I'll take my camera.

It was a great night.
My son loved walking around checking out all the weights, training gear, and honour, notice boards.
There was a piece of paper where you put your name then beside it put your weights partners name.
Everyone had been paired up except Richo he put "myself"next to his. :)(my son liked that)
I get the feeling Cotchin just likes to be called Cotch as everywhere he had to write his name.(like one on a noticeboard that said,"Who wants to go to the movies on Monday) He just wrote Cotch.

We definately need that secret wink or handshake.
It felt quite strange looking around the room thinking I "sort of" know some of these people!!

It was great to hear Graham Polak is on the mend.
We got to put a few words in a get well card which was nice. (I put yours in too ronnit ;))

Alex Rance seemed pretty peeved he started off in the Coburg ressies.
I think he said something like he thought" bugger this I was playing firsts in the WAFL" then realised what he said and changed tack abit.

Like someone else said with all the bad stuff Greg Miller gets he never stops. He was off to the Dogs at Sandown with the Polak family in his suit(I've been there lately he would've stood out like a sore thumb) Every club function I go to he's there.(probably why he's onto his third missus ;D)

Maybe we'll need to get a badge or that secret wink worked out before the Cocktail Night

Was a good night.
Thanks for the opportunity rosy from my son and I.
