Just a help question.....does anyone know when the 2009 season kicks off. Is it locked in even though the draw is not until late October???
Are we guarranteed the thursday clash before easter again.??
Up here in north qld and need to book flights very early to grab cheaper fares although knowing my luck i could lock in the first weekend of 2009 and be in Melbourne while the tiges draw an interstate match and are playing the lions in brisbane.

i'm almost certain richmond wants an annual carlton game on good friday eve and is on it's our wish list for the 2009 draw, but clubs don't always get what they ask for.

As we finished 9th, Adolf should allow us to have more Friday night matches next season.

Hopefully our "traditional" round 1 encounter with Carlton can continue next year - more so now that Stevens is suspended for Round 1 !

We have, problem is Eddie McGoo has stuck his head in and said Collingwood want a piece of the Easter Eve action.

March to his credit on record has stated "I think Collingwood have enough blockbusters without pinching ours"

But you just know McGoo and friends will put in a submission and we all know how the AFL look after them.

So thats how you think we will improve even further in 2009?

A smart programmer would create a draw with Richmond and Carlton meeting very early on in the season, while both teams supporters still have hope.

Leave it too long and we may all realise that we are still crap and lose interest in turning up, or switching on the TV. People always watch Collingwood regardless.

I'd like us to try to shift this on to be a Good Friday twilight or night game. Then let Collingwood have the Thursday night game against someone else - North, St Kilda or Hawthorn?

even better. the afl are being unbelievably short sighted by not programing a game for good friday. next year will be perfect timing as it will be the year of our resurrection ;D

11 home games at the G
10 away games at the G
1 away game at the Gabba
No Sunday night games
Plenty of Friday night and Saturday arvo games
Coburg curtain raisers at the G every time Richmond play

If you're planning trips around the dates it might be an idea to e-mail the AFL to find out for sure Rolls.
