PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

As we know unless a miracle happens, we will not make the 8 this year and Terry wont be coaching next year. Discussion has already started on who should be 2010 coach. Personally I hope it is someone fresh not a Pagan, Malthouse, Williams or Sheedy but not someone who will be overawed or who will be dictated by demands of instant minor success demanded to them by the board and supporters.
With a new coaching arrival generally there is a major overhaul of the coaching staff so with that in mind, what is your ideal/dream coaching panel to take over this years

Terry Wallace
Brian Royal
David King
Wayne Campbell
Craig McRae (development)
Jade Rawlings

You can choose to keep all/some or none

I would pick Damien Hardwick as senior coach ahead of Buckley and Longmire. He has had premiership success at essendon and Port, was hated as back pocket, tough, takes no crap from anyone and seen at Hawthorn over 5 years how having balls and making tough success can get you from bottom to top over period of time with patience and control of the situation.

Assistants prefer John Longmire over Bucks as say 2nd in charge, I know unlikely but this my ideal selection. Longmire comes from a succesful Swans winning culture for a team everyone writes off every year. Swans has also been one of the best contested teams in the comp and has played well on a culture of playing for your mates more than any team in last 5 years.

Leigh Tudor would be one I would chase as well, coming from Geelong where he coached them to a win in VFL I think in a premiership and assistant coach in 2007 premiership and now assistant coach at St Kilda who as we know are unbeaten. Means in my ideal coach world we have coaches from Hawks, Swans, Saints and Cats who have been best team in last 5 years.

I would keep Wayne Campbell. I know he does not have many fans on here. I doubt he be ready to coach but I always thought he was smart footballer and has only been here 1 year so he is not at complete blame. Also I think a new panel need some insight into what they are in for and Campbell be the best option and would have 12mth guide on the Tigers, also knew how Bulldogs got to be a top 4 side.

Would also keep Craig McRae as development coach as need someone I think from existing panel instead of having a clean slate and McRae would have the best knowledge of players drafted since 2005 , in his development role.

The other person I would like is Alan Richardson who has good reports on him about the development of players at his time at Bulldogs and Collingwood and has joined Essendon with their young list this year. Has also coached Coburg previous

My ideal coaching panel be
Wallace - Damien Hardwick
Royal - John Longmire
King - Leigh Tudor
Campbell
McRae
Rawlings - Alan Richardson
