I am very happy that I can bestow this award to a Tiger player after the circus that enveloped the footy world over Dusty’s contract status. For a young player with such elite potential, I guess it isn’t surprising that he would test the water, but at the end of the day I am glad that he plays in the Yellow and Black as he would have to be the most damaging player of his age. After an ordinary season in 2012 I predicted that he would bounce back in 2013 and that he did. He was excellent, powerful and damaging, playing all 22 matches and the final to round out a stellar year. He averaged 24.2 disposals, 2.7 tackles and kicked 23 goals (3rd behind Jack and Ty). He is the complete package and has continued to improve. At 22 years old he could really become anything in the AFL. Let’s hope the latest drama was a wake up call and he is a Tiger for the long haul! Congrats Dusty on being awarded the PREmier Fighting Tiger Award for 2013!

Normalised votes are calculated by: (votes accrued per round / the total number of voters for that round) * 100/3 - This means the theoretical maximum a player can get is 100 - ie. if they get 3 votes from every voter in every round.

There were a few differences between the normalised leaderboard and the official standings this year with players that did well in the second half of the season getting a boost due to the lower voter turnout.

We normally assess the players pretty closely to the coaching staff, however this year it is clear that we drastically underrated three players in Chaplin, Morris and Grigg.

Re: The 2013 PREmier Finals Tiger Award - THE AWARDS!

Well that wraps up the PREmier Fighting Tiger Awards thread for 2013. Many thanks to the 140 PRE members that contributed to the polls this year.

Congratulations to Dusty on a well-deserved win in 2013!

Apologies for the tardiness of these awards. They take a bit of work and I have to fit them in around family and work commitments. For some reason my wife thinks I’m reasonably mad for spending so much time on these, but it IS a labour of love. We got there in the end and I hope you’ve enjoyed them.

I’d like to thank those that contributed match reports this year and the many PMs to offer assistance. A special mention to Rosy for drumming up support. I think the variety provided in the match reports from all of the different reporters makes fascinating reading.

As always, feedback, comments and suggestions are appreciated.

We managed to take a big step this year as a club and as a team. When you finish 5th only ladder there is only one place to go to improve. Let’s hope the team can put a season together, see finals again and go for the top 4 in 2014! I can’t wait until next March to watch it unfold!

Re: The 2013 PREmier Finals Tiger Award - THE AWARDS!

brilliant stuff yet again PT.

I think the disparity between the PRE & RFC voting comes down to the fact these days it's tough to pick only 3 players to give votes too. In the past is was often hard to find 3 worthy players.

With the RFC votes going to more than 3 players (if I remember how the voting is) it makes sense that when the whole team are better, our 3-2-1 voting will start to deviate from the RFC voting.

thanks also to those who voted and wrote reports. it's greatly appreciated.

congrats to dusty. a worthy winner. 4th on here was a pretty good effort for our jack dyer medalist in jacko. unfortunately being the resident whipping boy cost him votes and made us further from the official result than our usual accurate efforts.

Cheers mate.

Yep, that was my take too. A player like Morris struggled to get votes consistently on here because we were forced to try to fit in his excellent efforts against an amazing game from Lids, Dusty, Cotch, Jack etc etc.

The depth. It builds.

Thanks Rosy.

Yes, being the whipping boy amongst a vocal minority certainly made it harder for him. However, you did your part to get him up there!

Re: The 2013 PREmier Fighting Tiger Award - THE AWARDS!

Congratulations PT on another outstanding analysis of our team.

Well done to Dusty. I am very excited that he will be a Tiger again for at least the next two years....just couldn't stand the prospect that he might line up against us in 2014.....would have been a nightmare to see Dusty in black and white stripes!

I was surprised that Jacko did not score higher. He provided many of the highlights of the year for me, especially his increasingly frequent freak goals!

Personally, I was surprised that I was one of the main contributors to Alex Rance's tally. Prior to 2013, I was one of his harshest critics, but the injection of Troy Chaplin into our team made a huge difference to our back line and my perception of Alex.

Thanks again Panthera for this stunning contribution to PRE.

it shows at least one prender knows what they're talking about. :hearton if others on here recognised jacko's brilliant season like i did, and the coaches did, he would have won this hands down. this is possibly the furtherest pre has ever been from the official result.
