Great Work thanks Sammy.

In all seriousness, there should be an actual PRE player of the year medal struck and presented.

Agree, Ezy. Fantastic to see the best player in the AFL win the coveted award in such dominant fashion. He certainly wasn’t taken for granted by PREnders. Personally, I would’ve made him All-Australian captain as well as giving him the Brownlow despite jobbing someone. But not even Dustin Martin can win everything at once.

And thanks again, Sammy C. You’ve done a power of work and it is very much appreciated.

a suggestion.

The points get skewed by the number of posters that vote.

The top 5 or so vote getters for the round should be awarded points for the round ie top vote getter gets 5, 2nd 4, 3rd 3, 4th 2 and 5th 1.

This way a player won't get a massive amount of points in one game like dusty in the gf for example.

Thanks Sammy, great job again. I'd favour giving 5-4-3-2-1 instead of 3-2-1, but that's probably a bit more work for you!

Perfectly reasonable Harry, but the current method is different and interesting, because it does skew based on the result or importance of the game. I like that being the best player in a big win is worth more than the best player in a poor loss- at least I like it in our voting as a point of difference.
I do think 3-2-1 isn’t great, but I think 5-1 isn’t much better.

To semi quote Monty Python in the Life of Brian. Just what has Dustin Martin done for us as a club? All he has done to date is be BOG countless times, two permierships, two Norm Smiths, one Brownlow, one Leigh Mathews trophy, one AFLCA champion player, three AA’s , two Jack Dyer’s, two Gary Ayres, two Yipoken’s, two Ian Stewarts and two under 22 teams. I am sure I have missed something out but it just shows what a freak player he is and we are so lucky to have such a loyal guy in out playing group

Each player scores his percentage of total votes per round, e.g.

Round 1 - 64 voters provide a 3-2-1

Martin 175 votes
Prestia 88
Nankervis 52
Vlastuin 40
Cotchin 16
Pickett 7
McIntosh 5
Short 1

Martin scores 175 / (64 x 6) = 46% = 46 points
Prestia 23%
Nankervis 14%
Vlastuin 10%
Cotchin 4%
Pickett 2%
McIntosh 1%
Short 0%

Votes total 100 each round, no matter how many people vote. The most a player can poll in a round is 50 (if everyone gives him the 3).

If you want to get fancy, make losses total 90 votes and wins total 110.

Fair discrepancy once again between the PRE & JDM.
Dusty wins ours by a street, yet polls sixth in the JDM...

Thanks Sammy for running the tally over the course of the year.
