Well, it's safe to say we at the Pies are in a world of pain right now.

While we likely would have matched McInnes whenever he was called, this was a little earlier than we hoped.

The big-bodied mid at least gives us both inside and outside grunt, which is always valuable. There is a question on McInnes's tank but we'll go to work on that right away. Expect early games from the kid.

However, we have massive issues ahead of the ball. Apart from de Goey, who we like to run through the midfield once or twice a quarter, every forward line position is up for grabs. So that's our focus for this next pick.

Back shortly with our selection ...

Pick #19
Jackson Callow

DOB: June 11, 2002
Height: 193.6cm
Weight: 95.5kg
Position: Key Forward

While Callow might feel like a stretch for a pick this early, we simply need a reliable marking option in the forward line and Callow is the highest-rated kid for this role. We also sense the Tigers might be sniffing around the lad so we're jumping in now.

Already a good size, Callow has played in the Tasmanian State League and flourished. We think he will be a focal point who will bring our small forwards into the game. We will need to be patient as he adjusts to the tempo of AFL footy but we believe his physicality will ensure he gets games in 2021.

You're up, @ToraToraTora — choose well!

I will love it if this happens in the real draft - it would truly put the icing on the pies’ trade period if they became probably the first club to fail to rort the NGA system and find themselves paying fair value for a player. They’d obviously try to live trade out their picks, but it might be hard to do with two of them and make them vulnerable to predators - might Richmond offer them 36 (points for McInnes) and one of next year’s seconds (points for Daicos)?

Pretty sure you will have lost this pick, picking up McInnes. Ie bid at 16, lose Pick 19 but gain back Pick 65

Pies had two picks in this area, Posh. I think they lose one with the matching bid, but that doesn't affect the other.
