@Brodders17 your up mate

Bombers only have 1 more selection left and if you dont select 1 of your NGA kids then you wont be able to match a bid when it comes due to no more picks. Brand & Eyre
All good for here, but at the draft couldnt the bombers go into deficit?
Otherwise i would expext them to trade out to get 2 lower picks.

@toothless hawks are up.

GWS Pick #46 - Liam Kolar
23/04/2002 | 195cm / 81kg KEY FORWARD / WING

I was hoping to get a small speedy foward at this selection and had 2 left on my list after my failed bid on Gulden but both went so had to assess what is the best for the GWS list and Liam Kolar just stood out that i could not pass on.

Has that Noah Balta feel about him with his size and athleticism , Just need to hit the gym over the next 2 years and add 15kgs to that impressive frame

Brisbane Pick #47 - Kailin Lane

204 cm developing ruck/ tall forward from Walpole via Claremont WAFL. Great tap ruckman and very good set shot for goal.

Has emerged this season from a basketball background, and is noted for his competitiveness. His is a solid contested mark and could develop into a Tom Lynch type forward in time. Strong tackler who can win contested ball after competing in the ruck, and does a lot of work around the ground. He is seen as the type of player who will greatly benefit from being in an AFL system.

Have just read that, unless they take one or more delisted free agents today or tomorrow, Collingwood will have to use six picks at the draft in order to fill its list.

Given that, currently, four of those six picks sit in round 4, the Pies are on a hiding to nothing. While they might get lucky with 1-2 of those picks, statistically-speaking they are unlikely to nail any (unless they take my drafting advice ... :))). Looks like I'll be reading deep into the player analysis to try and unearth a few late gems.

That trade period really was an unmitigated disaster for the Pies.

What on Earth were they doing?

The other thing I don't really get is that there is talk that Collingwood want to move their 2nd Pick 16 up the draft perhaps with their 2021 1st. Lets say Pick 16 and 2020 1st (assuming Pick 10) for Pick 8 and something back from the Bombers, they only have 44 this year and probably a pick next year too. What I don't get is how they think they will be able to match for McInnes and then be able to get the draft currency to get Daicos next year who looks like a top 5 prospect.

If McInnes is bid on at say Pick 18 (after their 2 picks) then they would need 788 points to match with Picks 43, 65 and 70. They would still have a deficit of 281 points to roll into 2021 which would come off their 1st pick (which they no longer have) so would need to come off their next pick which would push their 2nd pretty much back an entire round. They may still just have enough picks to take Daicos next year but thats about it.

If they do this, then they will take 3 1st rounders in this draft and next, and then they will need to fill their list with either DFA's or speculative picks at the back of the draft. Seems to me a bit of a stupid strategy (and hopefully it pans out like that) but it seems akin to going all in on black at the casino.

They have a few ways to fill list spots

They can trade on later pick spots e.g 2021 5th rounder for 2020 5th & 6th rounder etc
They can upgrade rookie players onto senior lists
Go in with 2 players less than other teams
Draft DFA players
