3, 2, 1 from today at Casey Fields

Only saw the last quarter at Casey Jones Field (God, what a nightmare trying to get to that place...) and then ventured up the road to watch the Hawthorn practice match at Waverley to see how we stacked up with those buffoons.

Draw any conclusions?

Well? did they play probables or evens

Aaaah…pretty hard to tell honestly.

I only saw a quarter of the Richmond game and the second half of the Hawthorn game.

If I had to say, the Richmond game appeared much more intense. Much more physical if you get my meaning. The Hawthorn game was much more relaxed. If we had of played them on Friday night I reckon we probably would have walloped them.

However, in saying that, the Hawthorn style of play was better. Bit more open, more running etc. Skill level/execution on about a par i.e. pretty average at times.

The Hawthorn game had a lot of their regaular seniors out.

One thing I did notice was that the Hawthorn squad is very young and skinny, bit like ours albeit with a few more talls going around. Franklin, Mitchell, Roughead and Birchall were the best from what I saw. Dowler did a couple of handy things.

Anyone been to that new setup out at the old Waverley Park ? Bizzare. Not bad, but very strange having apartments backing right out onto the training ground and having a public gym, coffe shop, dentist and lounge bar all in the same precinct as the club’s admin and training. They don’t have any lights around the ground either from what I could gather.

If the game was less physical then would this allow the style of play to be more open? If the players are not being pressured then the would have more time to run and bounce.

Probably.

Geez, now he's going to get them into a $5 million debt and call it positive momentum.

Don't they read newspapers down there?
