PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

Interesting to read about Andrew McLeod's latest contract negotiations at Adelaide. They have refused point black to give him any longer than a one year deal now that he's reached the age of 30. Seems they have had that policy in place for a while now. I wonder if the RFC has a similar policy? It makes sense to me.
The reason I bring it up is because of Richo's recent comments that he wants to and thinks he can play for another 3 years at the elite level. Whilst I'd love to think the great man can do it, I hope that the RFC doesn't look at anything longer than one season at a time. Anything else would be foolish IMO regardless of his standing at the club.
Father time catches up with even the greatest of players. Considering the game is only speeding up, players will be lucky to play until the age of 30 in the future.
I hope the Players Association is taking that into account when they look at getting a larger share of the TV rights pie.
