PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

Bowden, has slowed down and slows us down. Undignified to have a two time best and fairest playing out his career at Coburg in 09. Expect him to pull the pin.

Casserly, very unlucky with injury but I think he will be released at the end of the year.

Collard, may have done enough to warrant some extended time at Coburg. 50/50 to make our next years list, at this stage, (unlike Cartledge, Howatt and Sylvester who were very poor choices in the first place).

Coughlan, much loved and only has to get through to the end of the season, probably at Coburg, to be assured of a new contract.

Graham, first year back after ankle injury and is likely to stay on although he could be at risk if Warnock or Vickery get picked up.

Hyde, has his failings but is in our best 25 and is an experienced and capable tagger on opponents of mid range ability.

Johnson, has slowed down considerably and although doing much better than last season, is likely to spend time at Coburg if still on our list next season. Would prefer to see him take on a role as a development coach, (with Mcrae to come in as an assistant and King to take over at Coburg).

King, may have some trade value as he is 'unsociable', but I don't expect to see him on our list next season.

Meyer, doing well at Coburg and if he can maintain this form he will stay on next season.

Oakley-Nicholls wiil be given one more year.

Pettifer, I was sorry to read of his injury today. Thought he was a goner but seem to recall there was some rule protecting the contracts of players injured and out of contract. Aaron James? Otherwise I don't believe he will be at Punt Rd next season.

Raines, is possibly one who may attract some interest at another club but unlikely to be at the club in 09.

Tivendale, All over for him but 160 games odd off the rookie list is no small achievement. Good luck Tiv.

So 38 players less Casserly, Johnson, King, Pettifer, Raines and Tivendale plus 2 vets less Bowden, plus 4 rookies less Cartledge, Howatt and Sylvester giving us 32 players, 1 vet and 1 rookie.

King and Raines might get us something ..maybe a T Tuck from the home of unsociable football, but unlikely.

As for trades, they are disruptive and extremely difficult to pull off. However the rewards for both clubs can be significant and the possibilities should be examined.

I, personally would like to see Terry and Greg target picks rather than players. If only one of these came off I would be wrapped.

N Brown, C Newman and 4th rd pick to North Melbourne for their 1st and 3 rd picks.
C Hughes and J Schulz to Port for their 1st rd pick.

If the first one came off we would have 5 picks under pick 50 including two first rounders.(ZIEBELL AND VICKERY). If the second came off maybe :hihi
