7 & 10 Looking to shaft fans in NSW & QLD

When the AFL went over to the states to see how their codes were done didnt they just have a look at the coverage their games got for NFL, NBA and Baseball they with 50 plus teams in each comp they do a better job than us and we only have 8 games.

AFL +ch7+ch10 = Wankers

In Australia, especially on Foxtel, we get a skewed impression of the coverage of sport offered to the average American. There are places in the US that get one NFL game a week on their local TV station if they don't have a high-level (i.e high cost) cable package. There are also some backwaters where people have actually chosen not to have NFL broadcast on certain days (even replays) in order to maximise attendences for their local high school games... Mind boggling, to the Australian way of thinking.

As for AFL, I'm pretty confident you'll see Foxtel doing three games a week come the new season.

I deliberately don't get fox Jb because i'd just become velcroed to the couch.  I watch too much footy on TV as it is.  And don't even mention the races, you get them as well don't you?  I'd get no sex and my house would fall down.

How can 7 & 10 possibly entertain the move of using community television to broadcast games into NSW & QLD. It's a disgrace. How many people can actually get a decent picture on these channels? They may have won the rights but they're *smile*ing it up royally. They've got themselves in a hole and they're going to offload games to any station but 9 & pay-tv. Why bid for the rights if you didn't want to compete for the same market. The geniuses at 7 & 10 have only just realised that they may go head to head but who cares we'll just unload those to a community TV station for *smile*'s sake get it right you prats!

Yep,they had already sorted out their arrangements & Foxtel would have televised the Friday night games live in NSW & QLD.

Oh glory be to Foxbloodytel!  One dimensional PayTV and Channel 9 stooges!  Still believe Channel 9's AFL rights were more a case of protectionism for their League markets - pure ratings winners, and therefore great revenue makers for the whole of their market as a consequence (not just Qld/NSW).  Strategic!  As long as they broke even on the AFL deal, they were miles in front and therefore could not be touched by 7&10 on rates per 30seconds.  Hence Kerry's dying wish to make the highest bid he did - knowing full well it would at least cause havoc for the other players if he didn't win his protectionist game.

The "havoc" we now have is important - the destination will be better for the journey!

I think one day you are just going to have to get Foxtel pharace!

Had it for years B-brothers! Even when we moved a few streets, took up the free installation 'gift' again just to ensure we had the dish (bloody ugly thing - me an the dish ;D). So payin for it is not the hassle - but as TE says, at what point do you want something running your waking hours, especially the kids crap (nickelodeon especially - angry TV at its worst). The price - I get no footy channel. But I have happier kids - small price (no actually a big price when I reconsider ) but still worth it!

Was so happy to see 9 lose the rights cos they are pure manipulators - and of course they would be - it's big bucks - hence the anti-siphoning efforts of the government - especially given the 9 / foxtel links. These are important times (watershed perhaps) in footy broadcasting. Still what we get now in Qld, as crap as it is compared to Vic etc, it is still a far cry from when I moved here in 1981 when you got Sat match of the day only on Ch7 (and was playing anyway so got a betacord) Even had to wait until 4pm to get Friday's Feral Sun just see the teams for the weekend - now with the Internet............................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
