Another good one is telling qualified architects that they are on equal footing with draftspersons and that they essentially do the same job.

A better one is say 'oh so you know how to use CAD? That program is amazing how you just punch in your requirements and constraints and it spits out an optimal design'.

Osteopathy

think you may have confused osteopathy with homeopathy baloo?

osteopathy is a physio/chiro fusion. 4 year degree, mucho anatomy. Im a fan. reckon most footy clubs would have one on the books?

I dunno what the truf is on 911 though. and dont buy kinesiology and homeopathy either. But Placebo is definately scientifically proven, so.

....so....what big easy? Placebo is a known effect. It isn't a license to sell snake oil to unsuspecting dupes at inflated prices. I'd be all for Chiros hanging a shingle that reads Placebeotition. Osteopathy is a step away from Chiro. You may find some that understand that and work within the limits of their field but there are plenty who don't and who want to offer, and claim, to do much more than they can back up with any science.

No, I meant osteopathy. Homeopathy isn't even taken seriously by its practioners.

Ive got a friend who took four years at university to get an Osteopathy degree. Proper, state run, University. She cut up cadavers to learn anatomy inside out. I had Osteo Pubis and was moving like C3P0 for months. She fixed me in no time.

shes definately no quack and has no snake oil for sale.

I seriously think youve got Osteopathy wrong fellas.

maybe it should drop the -pathy and call Osteology or something?

You might be confusing orthopedic with osteopathy. Osteopathy therapists are not speed to call themselves practitioners in Oz, only therapists.

Nah. definately rate osteopathy. Im surprised they arent rated. Pretty sure the AMA would operate like a cartel. Like I said, my mate cut up stiffs to learn anatomy. Went to Uni and did heaps of science. Has a shelf full of anatomy texts in her rooms. That doesnt seem like quackery too me??

each to their own. I think financial planners are quacks.

That is exactly what I'm saying JayBee. He sounded as though he thought Rhandi had just made a mistake by referring to acupuncture because obviously acupuncture works. It was funny to listen to but ultimately a little disappointing. People can be completely reasonable but have blindspots. Things that don't come up normally and you just stumble into a conversation with someone you've known for years and BLAM! massive blindspot. Just mention Chiropracters and it sets the cat amongst the pigeons. In fact I think a seperate thread was started to try catch all the stuff was spinning out of this one.

Yes, so it seems....

you sure?

So sure that Laurie Levy is now the official protector.

I've tried a couple, in fact I've tried most alternate practices (recommended to me by a couple of specialists who have run out of ideas) and most of them are quackery/placebo effect.

I live in Byron Shire. Home of quackery and placebo effects. The best one is Universal Medicine (look it up). An ex-tennis coach invented a cream, that when rubbed on mostly attractive women's nipples, reveals all the secrets of the universe and cures everything. The bloke is has made a genuine fortune. ::)
Osteopathy is a type of alternative medicine that emphasizes massage and other physical manipulation of muscle tissue and bones.[1] Its name derives from Ancient Greek "bone" (ὀστέον) and "sensitive to" or "responding to" (-πάθεια).[2][3][4]
In the United States, osteopathic physicians are trained and are certified to practice medicine. They represent a branch of medicine called Osteopathic Medicine. Osteopaths trained elsewhere are trained only in manual osteopathic treatment, generally to relieve muscular and skeletal conditions, and are referred to as osteopathic practitioners.[5][6][7] They are not allowed to call themselves Osteopaths in the United States to avoid confusion with certified physicians. In the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia and New Zealand osteopaths are registered and regulated by law as therapists but may not practice medicine (although Germany, like Canada, allows US-trained osteopathic physicians to practice).
Maybe it is an "ethos" thing? She may be trained basically as a physiotherapist but has a penchant for reiki and essential oils so prefers the link to "alternative medicine". I used to fix the photocopiers at "The Endeavour College of Natural Health" in Melbourne, (where you can study reiki right along side chiropractic) they had all the same books on anatomy that the universities use.

To be clear I'm not questioning your friend's ability.

Am I missing something here because I thought they used Osama Bin Laden & Afghanistan as the scapegoat for the 9/11 attacks and Iraq was because someone had twitted that they had weapons of mass destruction?

Kind of..... Osama Bin-Laden is Saudi by nationality but was based in the Al Qaeda strongholds in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan. From memory I think there was one Iraqi in the 9/11 attacks, most were Saudis. However Saudi Arabia is a US ally and as the 9/11 terrorists and Al Qaeda are against the Saudi regime as well, so the US weren't going to attack Saudi Arabia. The nationality of the terrorists is largely irrelevant IMO since they were all committed to Al Qaeda rather than their home countries anyway.

So 9/11 was the justification for attempting to rid Afghanistan of the Taliban, and the WMDs were the reason to invade Iraq (supposedly). There were also assertions that Saddam Hussein also supported Al Quaeda and terrorism generally through funding which could have been true, but there's no evidence he was directly involved in the 9/11 plot AFAIK
