PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

There seems to be a pretty set school of thought amongst several posters on here that we need to avoid re-cycled players and the kids need to be played in the seniors asap.

Two examples where North have been very successful came to mind watching them play today.

Firstly Sav was drafted from the scrap heap and he's been very serviceable since he's been there.  Not only has he kept them competitive whilst the young kids come through I'd imagine his knowledge and experience will be a legacy that carries on with kids long after Save retires.  (Btw Sav ripper goal from the centre square before)

The second example is Daniel Harris who's being discussed as a future captain.  I haven't looked up the records so am happy to be corrected but I'm pretty sure Daniel had a couple of years in the reserves before settling into the ones.

It certainly hasn't done his long term development any harm.

It's best to judge players and situations on their merits and get the decisions correct and if we can get a good recycled player or a player needs a long period in the seconds neither are necessarily bad things.
